washington home inspector licensing: Is Your Washington State Home Inspector Licensed? - 07/24/11 09:04 AM
Many consumers, and others, are having trouble finding the official website that lists licensed home inspectors for the state of Washington. This has led to frustration on the part of people trying to find licensed inspectors -- that includes realtors and other inspectors. To be most effective, licensing data should be easy to access and there are unlicensed inspectors out there.
Since I am on the licensing board, I figure I need to be able to pass that official link on to others. So, if you are an agent, in Washington State, and you wish to be able to, anytime night or day, search the … (1 comments)

washington home inspector licensing: Washington State Real Estate Agent Alert -- Home Inspector Licensing - 07/01/10 01:25 PM
As of today, July 1, 2010, residential home inspectors in the State of Washington must be licensed.

Yesterday was the last day that any inspector who has not gone through the licensing process could perform inspections (four and fewer dwelling units) without a state home inspector license.
When phase one went into effect, nearly a year ago now, a select few inspectors were allowed to continue inspecting -- as they acquired their education, field training and tested. But those days are now over. Deadline passed -- Inspectors must be licensed and DOL plans to take a tough stand on any unlicensed … (5 comments)

washington home inspector licensing: Washington State Approved Home Inspector Education (Bellingham Technical College) - 09/26/09 12:22 PM
On an ongoing basis, due to being the program coordinator for home inspection training at Bellingham Technical College, I am receiving calls and Email inquiries from individuals who wish to be trained to work as licensed home inspectors in the state of Washington.
Licensing kicked into place in this state almost a month ago on September 1, 2009. That new law, when it went in, created a commotion for a few in the business. It is time to ask realtors in Washington state a couple important questions. Within the home inspection industry there is speculation as to how real estate professionals will handle referrals after the new home inspector licensing laws take effect on September 1, 2009.
I would like to receive feedback from Washington state realtors and brokers who are at Active Rain. I have written on this topic, and how the soon to be licensing will be implemented, in a previous post.

I have two questions that I would like your feedback on.
1. In your offices, are you aware that the rules regarding home … (30 comments)

washington home inspector licensing: Painful Transitions -- Caught in Catch 22 - 01/11/09 02:29 AM
Some of the consequences of the new Washington State Home Inspector Licensing Laws have ruffled a few feathers. Of course, that is to be expected and before it is all done I am sure that more feathers will be ruffled. Change, and rules, always lead to some disgruntled people. So far, one consequence that I did not see coming, involves home inspector training. As a member of the licensing board and the home inspection program coordinator at Bellingham Technical College, this one has me caught in the door as someone keeps opening and closing it on my head.
The problem is caused … (10 comments)
