customer service: A tale of two agents and staying in touch - 03/11/20 03:06 PM
This morning when I arrived at my office I had an email from a name that I didn't recognize as a past client, but it referenced an address that seemed familiar to me.  As it turned out it was a listing of mine that sold back in 2016.  The email was sent to me and to the closing attorney (who has since left a partnership with other attorneys and has his own firm, so email had changed and person who email was addressed to is no longer employeed there).
The email said "where is my deed?"  Well the fact is the deed … (45 comments)

customer service: We don't just open doors, let me tell you about my day... - 04/27/15 09:19 AM
I hate stronly dislike being at work early and I don't usually schedule early appointments, but today I really had NO CHOICE because I had so much to fit into one day. I started with typing a new offer for a buyer. He made an offer last week and was going to accept the counter from the bank, but went ahead and had his inspection done and found some pretty major issues.  So we started with a new offer taking these issues into consideration on the price.
Next I had a closing. And when the agent working with the buyers let me know … (28 comments)

customer service: A management fail at dinner making me think about my style. - 11/17/14 12:54 PM
I felt so bad for the poor waitress, it was not at all her fault. I was at dinner with a group of people 11 to be exact. We had 7 checks total for the waitress to keep up with. We all placed our drink orders and when those were delivered we placed our dinner orders.  It was going so well, then bam...
The manager comes out and said "who ordered CHOPPED STEAK?" we have a problem.  As it turned out one person at our table who ordered chopped steak already had their dinner and I was the other person and … (20 comments)

customer service: Lake Sinclair real estate agency with good customer service - 12/01/13 12:53 PM
I'm not about to promise to answer your email if you send it after midnight because SOMETIMES I do sleep.  But last night I was still up late and happened to check my email when I was about to put my phone on the charger.  I had a question about a listing from a buyer client.  I looked up the information which took me less than a minute and emailed her back a little after 1 a.m.
This morning she emailed me back and said "LOL, Do you work 24/7 ?"
While the answer to that is No, I don't... … (4 comments)

customer service: Memories of "customer service" and what I learned from those early jobs - 06/03/13 05:23 AM
In training a new agent with his firsts...  first contract, first listing, first repair request  and I have been watching at how great he is with making really good recommendations to his clients about what to put in an offer and which are the important repairs to request after reading the inspection.  He's going to be really great.
Every job I've ever had included working with the public:
Conveniece store bagger Museum Docent Soda jerk Convenience store cashier Waitress Middle school Secretary waitress Newspaper graphic designer Radio advertising and production Piggly Wiggly Deli Real Estate That list is "complete", it's every … (24 comments)

customer service: Sears- NOT the place I'll be buying my future appliances - 07/10/12 06:38 AM
Last August I purchased a new washing machine from Sears.  It was really sad that the previous had broken when it was only 9 years old.  My 20+ year old dryer works like a charm.  I've been buying all my appliances from Sears my entire adult life.  Washers, Dryers, Refrigerators, Stoves, Freezers, & Dishwashers.  But apparently that my business means nothing to the good folks at Sears.  Because last month on the 23rd of June when my washer quit working I called repair.  Oh wait I had to call on Sunday because I worked late on Saturday and the repair center … (32 comments)

customer service: Got my AT&T phone bill.... - 10/10/11 03:57 PM

Oh yeah, I got my mail.... I had it held while I was on vacation so it wouldn't pile up in the box.  Perhaps you all remember my "issue" with AT&T back in August.  So as you might imagine I just howled with laughter when I opened my phone bill.  I was expecting 83.00 as that's what they promised.  Holy Batman!
As you can see my "scribble" of a case "tracking #" they are investigating.  But while they are investigating.... I've contacted my attorney.  If this error blemishes my credit... we're gonna have a little problem.  And when I say … (30 comments)

customer service: What I learned from my cats about customers and clients - 09/29/11 03:21 AM
We have three cats in our home and two dogs (but that's another post).  My cats are very individual and different as can be.  My husband snapped that photo because it's SO unusual for those to cats to be that close to each other.
We have Gabby, the black and white tuxedo cat.  If you came over you would meet Gabby.  Gabby would be head butting you and expecting attention all the time.  Pet me, Pet me, Pet me.  But I've learned that when I get home from work or up in the morning if I will take the time to … (37 comments)

customer service: AT&T has the worst customer service and won't call me back - 08/11/11 02:31 AM
I'd love for you call me and chat this evening, perhaps call me on the number on my business card listed at as my home number for the past 20 years to tell me you want to sell or to buy property, but you can't.  AT&T disconnected my phone yesterday.  Now I paid my bill and I did not order a disconnect, yet I have no phone service and no Internet at my humble home.
This story starts three years ago... with a call to AT&T to try to lower my bill.  I called from my office, where I always am … (31 comments)

customer service: Furniture shopping and today's customer service experiment... - 06/01/11 04:33 PM
About a year ago I went out on my own and searched and searched for a new kitchen table.  It's not really for my kitchen or my dining room.  But we have an over-sized great room so we have a small table in one area of it for eating where we can see the television. I narrowed down to my favorite two and then let Donald pick.  Of course he choose my second pick and that's the table we have.  It's pretty and I like it, but it wasn't my first choice.  In part because it's round and it replaced a rectangle … (13 comments)

customer service: The Customer Service Test... Yarbrough Florist ... passed with flying colors. - 05/28/11 03:32 PM
Once a year I purchase flowers to go in the santuary of my church.  I do it in honor of my parents wedding anniversary which is tomorrow, May 25th.  I won't tell you the year, but I am one of those lucky folks to have my mom and dad still married to one another.
Today I called to order the flowers for this Sunday.  Not only did she promise me spectacular (and I will follow up witha  photo), but instread of insisting on a credit card over the phone the is going to mail me a bill to pay.  She was … (14 comments)

customer service: I don't work in that price range- My inspiration from a consumer comment. - 05/26/11 08:15 AM
Tish Lloyd wrote a very good post "I don't work in that price range".  It was on the feature board and got LOTS of comments.  Most agents chimed in to agree that we would not forgo the cheap house buyer or even serve them any differently than we do our higher priced buyers.
Then there was comment #68.  It wasn't even my post, but the tone of it really offended me.  Maybe it was the "I don't believe you" and the "consumer" was talking to all of us who agreed that we don't tell clients "we don't work in that price … (24 comments)

customer service: "You've made a client for life" said to a Lake Sinclair Broker - 12/07/10 07:26 AM
That was the message on my voice mail yesterday.
I didn't sell his house when I had it listed.  I showed it a lot.  I marketed it, but no offers even.  Yet, the message said I have a client for life... so what gives...
Well I got a call from a listing client that he was refinancing at a lower rate and was taking his home off the market.  I was happy for my client and knew how much he and his family seem to enjoy the lake when they are here on weekends so I understood and withdrew the property … (41 comments)
