Video at the Maui Aloha Classic - windsurfing contest Oct 2019 Here's a link to a short video taken at Ho'okipa Beach Park, in Paia Maui. The PWA Aloha Classic was on hold because the waves were too big and dangerous. This annual competition pits the best men and women windsurfers in the world. But despite the lack of contestants battling it out on the waves, the beach scene was colorful and interesting, as it usually is. Thanks for watching. Short movie at Pohaku Beach Park on Maui, aka S-turns Just a short and sweet little movie to highlight another beautiful beach on Maui's west side. There's off street parking for about a dozen cars, and some picnic tables in the shade. What a great spot to do a little surfing, paddle boarding, or just get some sun. I used the Quik app from GoPro to put this together using a couple of video clips and snapshots. They make it very easy. You can find Pohaku Beach off the coastal Lower Honoapiilani Road in the Napili area.

Big waves pound the north shore of Maui marking the start of winter This week we have seen some really big winter swells hitting the north shore of Maui. Yesterday the 35' surf got everyone excited to head out to JAWS in Peahi, Haiku. The Hana Highway and Hahana Rd intersection was like a parking lot as people carpooled or walked down to the cliff side to see the big wave surfers. Baldwin Beach Park remains closed today after the waves came up and flooded the parking lot and pavillion. Homes along the north shore in Kuau experienced extra high surf … (7 comments)
Today was another beautiful day on Maui - the Kona storm has passed and things are back to normal here on the north shore. This was the scene at Ho'okipa Beach Park, with the usual smattering of beach-goers, surfers, windsurfers and kite-boarders. Waves were mid size, nothing like the 20-footers we had last week. With the warm water and gentle tradewinds, it was a perfect day for going to the beach. I stopped in with my dad and we both took some pictures.
