nj beaches: Another day out on the boat, this time with the Dog (Photos) - 08/25/08 10:17 AM
Paddling on Silver Bay

Summer is a Golden Doodle.  (that's French for 'I paid a lot of money for a Mutt')  Her dad was a Golden Retriever her Mom a Standard Poodle. She is not supposed to Shed.. (she does just not like a typical dog) She has been a great dog, a true people person.
My initial intention was to run … (10 comments)

nj beaches: NJ Begins to recycle fishing line (photos) - 08/07/08 03:54 AM

Monofilament fishing line is estimated to take 500 years to decompose... It is a hazard to marine animals, and people alike.  Boat propellers HATE it!  And it is dangerous to people diving and getting tangled in it. (exactly why I dive with Multiple Knives!)
There are now 11 locations in New Jersey to recycle fishing line:
Leonardo State Marina, Middletown, NJ Bahrs Landing Marina, Highlands, NJ Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, Barnegat Light Island Beach State Park Forked River State Marina South Harbor Marine, Waretown Wharton State Forest Utches Marina, Cape May Miss Chris Marina, Cape May D&R Canal Kittatinny Valley … (7 comments)

nj beaches: The Kayak is DONE, (photos of its birth and first paddle) - 08/06/08 08:42 AM
The Kayak is DONE!
Last winter I started building a Kayak.  I always like to challenge myself to see what I can do, I am a firm believer that you can do anything if you try, and you need some sort of hobby outside of work. Since I don't sail much in the winter; why not build a boat!

nj beaches: LOOK; up in the sky, its ... A METEOR! - 08/06/08 03:01 AM
Perseid Meteor Shower: August 12, 2008
The Perseid Meteor Shower is just a few days away, it is one of Natures most reliable and consistent light shows. This year's Meteor shower is going to take place August 12th with the best viewing expected in the Wee hours of the morning after the moon sets.
As with most star gazing, light is NOT your friend, so you want to be in as dark a place as possible to view the meteors.  If you have never seen one, this is the time to see shooting stars!

I have been to the Finale show on more than one occasion where it was twice the usual show which makes for even more fun.  This year's show starts with the usual concert at Windward  Beach on Princeton Ave in Brick. The artists will be Nikki Britt and James Otto.

It is close to 50 years old and is presented with a "Disney Like" narration.  The most amazing thing is how accurate it still is for today. It talks about what Seaside Heights and the surrounding areas have to offer to visitors.
Nostalgia at its finest.  It is long, but I think you will find it to be enjoyable, especially if you are familiar with the area.

Island Beach State Park

WOW! Great news, after I posted a blog on NJ beaches last week I stumble across an article in today's paper about my favorite beach, Island Beach State Park.  Men's Fitness magazine named  IBSP as on of the 10 hot spots to visit in the Summer. National Recognition... There goes the neighborhood!

Did you ever think that a Beach in NJ would be named in a top 10 list?
Island beach is located just south of seaside, it is the southern most tip of the barrier Island that starts with Point Pleasant beach. What makes it so special … (6 comments)
