It was Red Flag the past couple of days at the Wedge. There were big waves! It was not as big as I have seen before, however, I still would not go into the water under those conditions. The Newport Beach Lifeguards are out in force!!
It is always evident when the waves are big at the Wedge, as there is lots of traffic looking for parking spots so that they can see the waves, and multiple news vans and loads of spectators!!!!

On a Clear Day in So Cal . . .
Today, the weather was incredible with day time temperatures at 71 degrees at the beach, and off shore winds (known as Santa Ana winds). It was incredibly clear, and the view to Catalina Island was incredible.
I was on preview in Laguna Beach, and stopped to take these photos of the California Coastline – it was a beautiful day to enjoy.
Then enjoyed this beautiful sunset inNewport Shores in Newport Beach, this evening.

Pet Owners Get 90 More Minutes of Beach Time in Newport Beach
The Newport Beach City Council has amended an ordinance to allow residents to walk their dogs for an additional ninety minutes per day on the beaches in Newport Beach. There is an additional hour in the morning, and an additional thirty minutes more in the afternoons.
With the new ordinance, dogs are banned from the beaches between 10:00 am and 4:30 pm, in lieu of the previous ordinance of 9 :00 am to 5:00 pm. The dog walking ordinance has taken place immediately. If however, you are looking for a place to take … (12 comments)

The Paw Spa is an awesome dog grooming facility located on the Peninsula in Newport Beach. The Paw spa is owned by Debbie Pratto. The Paw Spa was previously known as the Newport Dog Groomery. Debbie purchased the business in 2002 after she relocated from San Diego to Newport Beach. Debbie then changed the name to the Paw Spa as it more accurately reflects the services that are provided.

A Day at the Beach in Newport Beach
The summer weather has finally arrived in Newport Beach this weekend. The weather is so nice and clear and no more fog! The air temperature is about 80 degrees, and water temp is approximately 66 degrees (definitely swimmable).
The photo below was taken at 42nd Street on the Peninsula looking towards the Newport Beach Pier which is at 28th Street on the Balboa Peninsula.

This year was my second Race for the Cure 5K, and look forward to participating in many more. We had a spectacular team! The Isthmus at Catalina Island
Catalina Island is located approximately 26 miles from Newport Beach. It is a beautiful place to visit, and there is so much to see and things to do. It is not unusual to see dolphins, seals, porpoises and occassionally whales. There are so many activities there including snorkelling, and Scuba diving – the water is typically very clear and it is a great diving location.

I thought I would share a photo of my dog Patrick who is an Irish Setter. He was lounging on the deck on the footrest (he knows where to lay down) soaking up the sun in Newport Beach.
