republicans: GOP - Still The Party Of No? - 11/06/10 02:17 AM
In March 2009 I blogged about the GOP and included a YouTube Clip of how they were the party of "No".
(I think it's a classic and worth watching again).
Fast forward to November 2010, and the Republicans have taken control of the House of Representatives.
Will they work with their Democratic counterparts, or will they still insist on being "The Party of No"?

republicans: "The Language of Financial Reform" & Why Republicans Oppose Reforming Wall Street - 04/15/10 02:15 PM
Republicans are vociferously opposing Financial Reform and the way Wall Street does business.
They're doing so in a disingenuous way by trying to link Financial Reform to bank bailouts, lobbyist loopholes, and additional layers of government bureaucracy.
Their actions are a blatant ploy to rally support for the November 2010 elections.
Led by minority leader Mitch McConell, Republicans are using rhetoric recommended by a prominent political consultant, Frank Luntz.
Luntz's company - appropriately called "The Word Doctors" - has as its slogan: "It's not what you say; It's what people hear."
According to the company website, The Word Doctor is in the … (6 comments)

The Sarah Palin Network ..... "Are You Smarter Than A Half-Term Governor?"
Tina Fey's latest impersonation of Sarah Palin on SNL (4/10/2010) is brilliant & funny.
Watch it and weep - Enjoy!

republicans: "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" - 03/22/10 01:43 PM
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt" - Abraham Lincoln
A "politician" is a political leader - an individual involved in influencing public decision making.
Leaders, by definition, are responsible for leading.
They set examples. They are role models.
They are meant to inspire.
It's therefore seriously disturbing that Republican politicians are acting like hooligans, devoid of any civility, restraint or decorum.
It's intolerable that Texas Republican Randy Neugebauer behaved the way he did during the debate on the Health Care Bill.
It's inexcusable for him blame "the heat … (6 comments)

republicans: So This is How a Conservative Thinker Lives ...... - 03/21/10 05:31 AM
Curbed NY reports that the duplex that belonged to the late conservative thinker and National Review founder William F. Buckley is back on sale... after a big slash in price.
Originally listed at $24.5 Million, the duplex on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on Park Avenue has now been reduced to $12 Million.
The New York Times refererred to this as "a liberal price cut" ......
Somehow these pics conjure up the image of Marie Antoinette.

For Sale - Rush Limbaugh's New York Apartment - $13,950,000
1049 5th Avenue, New York, New York
While reading the blogs about New York Real Estate I discovered that Rush Limbaugh is finally selling his New York apartment.
"Stupid, punitive, and massive tax increases" have prompted the conservative talk-show host to list his apartment For Sale.
According to the listing, the 4-Bed 5.5-Bath is over 4600 sq ft and boasts four terraces, two of which face Central Park. Apparently the ceiling murals were hand-painted by a renowned artist and the moldings are hand-painted gold leaf.
Limbaugh describes the apartment as "fashionable" … (8 comments)

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger - Giving him credit where credit is due.
Appearing on "ABC's This Week", Gov. Arnold Schwarzennegger (R-Calif.) accused his Republican colleagues of blatant hypocrisy on the stimulus package.
He referred to the Republican's opposition to the jobs bill in public while accepting Federal Funds for stimulus related projects in their home districts.
Schwarzenneger went on to say: "I find it interesting that you have a lot of Republicans running around and pushing back on the stimulus money .... and then they go out and do the photo ops, posing with the big check and they say 'Isn't this great, … (7 comments)

republicans: Sarah Palin and yet another case of Republican Hypocrisy - 02/21/10 06:37 AM
Sarah Palin and yet another case of Republican Hypocrisy.
I've tried to ignore Sarah Palin and her annoying ignorance on seriously important issues.
But this weekend I was all riled-up by her blatant hypocrisy on the subject of health insurance reform and the "public option".
She continues to speak about "death panels" and the government "take-over" of health care ....both of which are factually false.
In spite of her vociferous objections to a public option in President Obama's health care reform, it has become known that her grandson, Tripp Palin Johnston, has soclialized health care through Indian Health Services and the … (15 comments)

republicans: Nancy Pelosi - "An Outrageous Spendthrift" - 01/26/10 02:46 PM
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is an outrageous spendthrift .... she's arrogant, hypocritical and out-of-touch with reality ..... and I don't like her.
A few weeks ago CNN's Jack Cafferty called her a horrible woman. I agree with him.
Cafferty has expressed his  disgust about reckless spending by members of Congress at the recent United Nations climate summit held in Copenhagen. "It's a disgrace," said Cafferty. "This nation is hurting, but Nancy Pelosi can use three military jets for a December trip to Copenhagen, and then refuse to answer any questions about it."
Today "The Cafferty File" asked "Should Pelosi … (10 comments)

The photo above appeared on The Huffington Post website this afternoon demonstrating protester's outrageous "Wilson-like" behavior
"Demonstrators take photos of an Obama sign placed under droppings from a police horse"
I couldn't help noticing that these protesters, who are so adamantly against Health Care Reform, all appear to be overweight, big-bellied and out-of-shape.

republicans: Joe Wilson: "I am not going to apologize again" - 09/14/09 01:10 AM
When is an apology not a real or sincere apology.....? It's when the apology is made for political reasons and is blatantly disingenuous. This is how Joe Wilson explained his "apology": "Well, I last night heard from the leadership that they wanted me to contact the White House and state that my statements were inappropriate. I did." According to Wilson himself, he contacted the White House at the direction of the Republican leadership and not because of his own sense of remorse for his unbecoming conduct.

Republican Hypocrisy Continues .... Mike Duvall Resigns as O.C. Assemblyman
Conservative Republican politician Mike Duvall (R-Yorba Linda) has resigned his position as Orange County Assemblyman after KCAL-TV Los Angeles aired a videotape of the Orange County GOP lawmaker bragging about his sexual conquests to a colleague at an Assembly Appropriations Committee hearing.
Duvall, a staunch conservative, has been a "pro-family values" proponent and in 2008 blasted efforts to permit same-sex marriage. Chapman University awarded Duvall the "Ethics in America Award" for his “demonstration of the highest standards of ethical integrity” while a member of the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce.
Duvall's … (20 comments)

Politics or Security? - Tom Ridge finally comes clean
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- "Former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge says he successfully countered an effort by senior Bush administration officials to raise the nation's terror alert level in the days before the 2004 presidential vote." - August 21, 2009
It was blatantly obvious to any reasonable person that the Bush Administration manipulated intelligence (or lack thereof) to instill fear in the public to further its political agenda. It was their standard "modus operandi".
So it's hardly a surprise that Tom Ridge (George Bush's Secretary of Homeland Security) has finally come clean … (6 comments)

Glenn Beck alienates advertisers from Fox News
"Walmart, Best Buy, CVS, and GMAC are among eight major advertisers that have confirmed pulling their advertising from Fox News' "Glenn Beck" program in light of his comments that President Obama is a racist.
The advertisers did not pull their spots from Fox News, but rather requested that their ads do not air during Beck's 5PM program." Color of Change.org
I think these advertisers are finally displaying some type of corporate responsibility by boycotting the hateful speech repeatedly spewed by Glenn Beck.

republicans: Sarah Palin to resign as Gov. of Alaska before the end of her term - 07/03/09 03:36 PM
Sarah Palin announced she will step down as Governor of Alaska. Why?
Is there Breaking News about a new scandal? Why is she really "passing the ball" as she says?
Palin took no questions after a brief news conference in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska. She did not state her future plans.
"I'm not seeking re-election" in 2010, Palin said, stating she would transfer authority to Lt. Governor Sean Parnell on July 26.
According to a report on CNN, the governor's "book deal and other issues" were "causing a lot of friction" in her home state. The report went on to say … (62 comments)

republicans: Don't cry for me Argentina - Cry for me South Carolina .... a classic case of hypocrisy! - 06/25/09 05:29 AM

Who is crying now?
South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's emotional and teary press conference on Wednesday June 24, 2009 effectively ended the possibility of his being a 2012 Republican Presidential Nominee. The press conference also saw Sanford resign as Chairman from the Republican Governors' Association.
"I spent the last five days of my life crying in Argentina," he said.
Sanford admitted to cheating on his wife and spending the previous few days with his mistress in Argentina while his whereabouts were unknown to his family and staff. This opens up a whole lot of moral, ethical and legal questions that the … (30 comments)
