los angeles: Justed Staged – Gorgeous Modern New Construction in Miracle Mile - 02/15/11 10:24 AM
We were recently called to stage this gorgeous vacant model town home because it was one of the last available units in a new building. Why wasn’t this one selling? Because there is no separate dining room or defined eating area. So when it was empty, it was very difficult for the average home buyer to figure out where they would sit down to eat. For that reason, many buyers passed on what is actually a fabulous unit. They just needed some help to see its true potential, and that’s where Stage to Sell came in! los angeles: Just Staged & Listed - Adorable Culver City Home - 02/15/11 09:30 AM
As a professional home stager based in Culver City, I was recently asked to stage this adorable Culver City home. The owner had been renting it out for a year and was now ready to sell it and relocate to Northern California. There was some touchup painting to be done, as well as replacing kitchen cabinet hardware and removing overgrown trees and a chain link fence that blocked the view of the house from the street. Then we got to work furnishing the home with buyers in mind.

los angeles: Just Listed – Stunning Mediterranean Villa in Westwood - 01/30/11 10:25 AM
We are often asked whether we can stage a property using some of the home owner’s existing furniture. The answer is a resounding YES! In this case, the seller had perfectly usable pieces for her living and dining room that she was willing to leave behind in order to save a bit on the staging rental fees. We happily agreed. We brought in additional pieces for the other rooms and enhanced what she had.
Here are the results:

los angeles: Los Angeles Home Stager Takes on Two New Affordable Housing Projects - 08/25/10 10:19 AM
For over two years now, I’ve been working with two Affordable Housing developers in the Los Angeles area to design the common spaces for their multi-family residences.
This may seem like a strange job for a home stager, but I sort of “fell into” this line of work when I was asked to “stage” the common spaces in one of these properties for an inspection (read more about that here). That turned into a wonderful partnership with American Communities, with whom I’ve now worked on four separate projects (Witmer Heights, Carondelet Court, The Hobart and The Ardmore).  Since this type of … (13 comments)

los angeles: Los Angeles Stager Takes on a Santa Monica contemporary…for the second time! - 08/10/10 11:09 AM
In early 2008, I staged a beautiful vacant Santa Monica townhome. At the time, it was my favorite staging to date – very contemporary, hip and fun…not to mention, the agent wrote me the most glowing recommendation I’d ever gotten!
As things go in the “small world” of Los Angeles real estate, the buyer’s agent for that property loved my work and hired me to stage one of his listings…and another and another. That agent has been a steady client ever since and tells me he won’t take a listing unless the seller agrees to have me stage it! Aren’t those … (11 comments)

los angeles: Staging a Beautiful Los Angeles Craftsman - 07/12/10 04:03 PM
A couple of weeks ago we were contacted by investors who had meticulously renovated a gorgeous 1919 Craftsman home in Los Angeles. They had brought in a few accessories to add a homey feel to the property, but there was no furniture (save for a too-small dining room table). Not surprisingly, they weren’t getting the buzz they’d hoped and – worse yet – no offers. So they called Los Angeles Staging Company Stage to Sell to up the “wow factor.”
We knew immediately why this home wasn’t selling. Despite its beautiful bones and spacious rooms, the layout confused even the most … (12 comments)

los angeles: Los Angeles Stager Does Traditional - 04/30/10 10:56 AM
If you’ve been following my blog lately, it may seem as if all we do are modern homes. Though modern staging is a big chunk of our work, you may be surprised to know that we work on more traditional homes as well.
Case in point: our latest Staging job at 1533 South Point View.
The Realtor (who is flipping this home) called me after reviewing – by her estimation – 15 different Stager websites! I was very flattered that she chose Stage to Sell.
She is a huge believer in Staging (don’t you LOVE clients who already “get” us and … (15 comments)

los angeles: Los Angeles Stager Takes on the ’70s! - 04/29/10 01:02 PM
When I got the call, I will admit I was intrigued. A 1970s Ray Kappe architectural property was how the agent described it. How on earth were we going to make the ’70s appealing to today’s buyer?
When I visited the home, I fell in love with it. Sure there was some deferred maintenance that would have to be addressed, but the height, the light and the materials were to die for!
Now the only problem became what type of furnishings to use with this style of architecture. I needed inspiration. Luckily the agent, Mary Young of Prudential in Santa Monica, … (7 comments)

los angeles: LA Home Stager Keeps it in the Neighborhood! - 04/22/10 05:52 AM

A couple of weeks ago I received a call from a repeat client who had a new listing on Wagner St. I commented on the fact that I myself live on Wagner St, but didn’t think it was the SAME Wagner St. I mean this is Los Angeles after all. There must be at least 4 or 5 different Wagner Streets within 10 miles of here. But this one turned out to be MY Wagner Street, right here in Culver City.
As any professional Home Stager will tell you, we spend probably a quarter of our work week in the … (9 comments)

los angeles: Los Angeles Home Stager Leads Crusade Against White Walls! - 03/09/10 10:32 AM
It’s happened 3 or 4 times in the last month. I’ve walked into a Home Staging consultation for a Los Angeles home and the seller says,
“Oh, you’ll be happy because we just painted all the walls white!”

Cue jaw dropping in shock and utter disappointment!

I just want to know who has been out there spreading rumors that home buyers want to see white walls?
Is it the TV shows about Staging?

I don’t think so – I watch enough of those and they NEVER paint a wall white. In fact, I think some of the … (12 comments)

los angeles: “Price gets you interest. Staging it gets you offers!” - 03/02/10 08:43 AM
Did you catch Gary Keller, author of “Shift: How Top Real Estate Agents Tackle Tough Times” and Chairman of Keller Williams Realty on ABC’s Good Morning America last week discussing how to sell a home in a buyer’s market?

His most publicized quote from this interview (which has set Stager Blogs around the nation afire) is as follows:
“Price gets you interest. Staging it gets you offers!” Keller hit on a point that I often emphasize with my Los Angeles Home Staging clients. Right now we’re in a buyer’s market, and you’re kidding yourself if you think your buyers aren’t … (11 comments)

los angeles: Home Staging = Real Estate Therapy - 02/01/10 03:15 AM
Today I had an experience that reminded me why I LOVE my job as the owner of a Los Angeles Home Staging company. It reminded me that I do so much more than help people prepare their homes for sale. Some days I am also a Real Estate therapist. Today was one of those days!
With all the craziness in the Los Angeles real estate market, I have been very busy in the past few weeks. So much so that, in order to fit in a client who needed some help selling her home, I arranged a consultation for a Sunday. … (24 comments)

los angeles: Our Latest Low Income Housing Project - The Ardmore - 10/07/09 08:12 AM
If you follow my AR blog, you'll know that I've done several "staging" jobs for American Communities, a developer of low income housing in Los Angeles. If you read my posts about Staging 1,  Staging 2 and Staging 3, you will remember that our goal was to make the common spaces in these buildings warm and inviting, as well as functional for the residents to relax, watch TV, attend meetings & classes and use a computer.
We recently completed Staging #4 for American Communities. Like the previous building, this one was designed in a contemporary Art Deco style, so we chose … (8 comments)

los angeles: Some Thoughts on Trees and Selling a Home - 06/10/09 10:59 AM
Spring is my absolute favorite time of year in LA because the jacarandas are blooming, showcasing their gorgeous purple flowers all over town. I just love walking down streets like this one in my neighborhood at this time of year.

Towards the end of the blooming season, however, trees tend to get sparser and most of those purple blooms end up on the lawns and driveways of their owners. In fact today on my morning walk I spotted many a lawn completely covered with fallen flowers. Loving the jacaranda as I do, I happen to think of this carpet of … (16 comments)

los angeles: Staging a Model Home in Culver City - 05/21/09 10:03 AM
There’s nothing I enjoy more than Staging close to home! If you happen to forget something, it’s just a short drive to storage, and you’re never stuck in traffic on the way home. So I was thrilled when Stage to Sell was hired to Stage a model unit for a beautiful new townhome development in my very own Culver City!
When I first previewed this property, my biggest concern was the size of the 2 main living spaces. The townhome had both a formal living room and a family room on the main level, but both rooms felt very small, especially … (10 comments)

los angeles: The Power of Home Staging: Bachelor Pad to Loft Chic - 05/18/09 03:35 PM
Last week we Staged a beautiful loft at The Broadway on Hollywood & Vine. The owner was a young professional who had beautiful furniture, but almost nothing else. The condo certainly wasn’t cluttered, and the furniture was in the right place. But something was missing. The Realtor on this job has great taste and knew immediately that this listing needed some Staging help.
Click here to see how we took this loft from bachelor pad to loft chic!

los angeles: A HUGE Thank You for Voting for Stage To Sell... P.S. We WON!! - 05/05/09 01:16 PM
Well, after all my shameless plugging, the votes are in and thanks to YOU, my company Stage to Sell has been named one of the winners in StartUp Nation's Leading Moms in Business Competition for 2009!
This contest really struck a chord with me because when I became a working mom five years ago, I was amazed at how difficult it was to run both a family and a business. It is often a thankless job and the hours are quite long! Of course as any mom knows, we wouldn't have it any other way.
Being a mom-preneur has given me … (22 comments)
