I did not know that .... but I must have got these for reporting  Chuck's SPAM last Friday...   Maureen you ignorant dinosaur

Guessing it is using the Report a Concern  link at the bottom of a comment... 

Wonder how it works... if you "Reported spam comment" on the same SPAM comment that I have reported would you get the points too?

Hi Maureen... Interesting post... I love Rich's words of wisdom.  He is wasted in real estate.  With diplomacy like his, he should be negotiating for peace in the Middle East!

I got a snide, nasty, insulting comment earlier today on a post that also included a link to the person making the comment. 

That is really too much.

I just deleted that one.

Steve I had to edit out Rich's words of wisdom.. realized it was said in a members only post.  I did not want to make this members only...another community guideline is don't reveal anything said in a members only post.  Yesterday Rich suggested waterboarding for comment spammers.  Hand to hand combat with comment spammers may have changed the man.   That was said publicly, so I can repeat it.

Lenn I deleted one comment yesterday morning without reporting a concern... it was mild an EBA who left a little tagline and a link.  I had commented back to her (them? couple ) but I think she signed it... the day before... can't remember if I emailed her too but the problem is it is not editable the next day... I just edited her comment back in without the extra link and tagline, because it was a good comment about EBAs using IDX.

I just went thru the newsletter and saw a spammer put in a bunch of nasty, stupid comments on others posts.  I could have gotten points!!! Eeeeek.  I'll remember this.  Thanks for the info.

grab some paper towels and a bottle of cleaner ladies... there's points... in those cleaning supplies.  Where was I today?  The official fair housing post?  Lots of spam comments, but I am sure I have reported them before.

Tony  Yes I think of the father in 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' when I grab the Windex... 

This is Lysol, not sure why I grabbed that one rather than the Windex except maybe I think of the hard core spammers as being a little grubby and germy...

This is on a post written by someone in my office who I invited. I am not sure if she is still active on AR, it is an old post.  

Link is to his  website. Can we say comment spam?  I just did a Report a Concern.  Will I get points?

Spam on AR is pretty rare in comparison to a WP blog but I see it all over ActiveRain member to member.  It is odd that some of us get it pretty regularly and others seem immune.  Chuck has about 25 pieces of SPAM that have stuck, bloggers have not removed it from their blogs.

I learned 2 new things from you today.  The points for reporting was news to me, but so was you comment about not being able to edit the next day.  I think the latter seems like a good idea but perhaps the editing period should be extended a few days.  I don't always get to AR daily.  Although I don't recall ever editing a comment but can see doing it in a case such as the one you mention.

You can always delete comments, Thank Goodness... but even the people who left the comment are not able to change the comment  to edit out a link, contact info or tagline the next day.  If they don't respond to a request to remove part of a comment they have to remove the whole thing.  I am not sure if days are 24 hours or change at midnight but I seem to see my errors in my own comments after I can no longer edit them. Not necessarily spelling errors but twisted sentences, wrong word spelled right type stuff. 

I wonder why that change was made to ActiveRain.  I don't remember being notified of that change.

I did not get any points for doing a Report a Concern  on the comment on the  post mentioned in comment 10... so maybe the points on the 17th were just a test.... or a fluke.

Now I have a bunch...  The  Report a concern mentioned  in comment 10 is the only one I did today.  Broken?  Going back to when I did one on  each of Chucks comment spams?   Reported Spam Comment

Goodness... I don't need the points.
