Pears in Green County WI

We planted two dwarf pear trees a few years ago.  I know the old saying about full sized pear trees "Grow pears for your heirs."  This is why we went with dwarf trees.  The cherry tree we planted the same year has born fruit three years now, but the pears have never had anything.  This year, though, one tree is covered with tiny fruit and the other has a smattering of developing pears too.  Exciting!  I'm looking forward to making pear butter and pear crisp this fall.

Looks like you might eat fresh fruit this year...  Congratulations.  Most fruit trees take 5 years to bear fruit.

How exciting!  I love fruit trees.  It does take forever to get fruit from them too.  Good luck!

Brenda, it is exciting to see the trees that you planted bare fruit.  I grew up in house that my parents had several fruit trees, and I miss the fresh fruit!

Oh how fun!  Little bitty baby pears!  I bet you'll be watching them grow every day.
