It's always interesting to see what's going on in other markets - thanks for sharing Georgina.

I love seeing reports on local reports when it comes to housing. How is it living on an island?

I remember getting of the plane in Maui and seeing the front page of the local paper shouting out the average home price was $375,000. That was a few years ago and I thought wow..so different than Maine..Northern Maine's average price is in the $80's..and it's no dump! Good post..got to get over to see your lovely islands again sometime. Miss the beaches.

Great report and photos as always Georgina. Shows there are some affordably lower priced properties for those of us in moderate income levels to live in paradise too...

Georgina- So the ugly house, you could buy it and then redo the house. That way you can get a mortgage that is affordable and then fix it up as you go, right? Or is that going to be super expensive due to shipping costs on products? Katerina

Harry - living on an island has it's pros and cons - but worth it.

Andrew - good to see you here!  I hope you make it back to Maui soon.

Katerina - I'm not sure if that ugly house is loan worthy - it's in really bad shape.  And yes, building materials are more expensive here due to shipping costs.  What is nice though, you don't need to have a heating/cooling system in so many of the homes here due to the ideal climate.
