How cool is this. Our office has participated in the Susan Komen walk for many years in support. It's also been interesting watching the "think pink" campaign show up on the football field in any number of the pink variations!
Hi Debe,
We recently held a "Paint the Town Pink" celebration here and raised $12,000 for the foundation. Mineral Wells isn't very big, so we were all surprised that the town was able to raise that much money. There is a group from our hospital that is participating in the walk this year...their name is "Hoofing for Hooters." At our recent Zonta Club meeting we watched a video about breast cancer and the walk. I don't think there was a dry eye in that room when the video was over.
Hi Debe..Well Done, Good Luck with your Drive for Breast Cancer :O)
Hi Russell! Thanks and I know you participated personally, didn't you? It has been refreshing to watch the support grow and to know that so many have been touched by this disease and are willing to so generosly donate their time and money to such an important cause.
Hi Carolyn: I love that title, 'Paint the Town Pink!' I would definitely say that was a successful fundraiser, for SURE! I have to ask, what is a Zonta Club?
Hi Fred: Thank you! I hope we raise double what we did last year! Did you click?! It's FREE!
Good post Debe. I have known several women who have died from breast cancer. I do what I can to support locally. Thanks for the reminder. You do have to admit, it is kinda funny to see the big burley NFL players wearing pink gloves and shoes though ☺☺☺
Helping you live your American dream...
Thanks for the awareness post! My sister in law was diagnosed in February! Prevention is important!
Debe - It really is so amazing when communities come together to raise funds for such a good cause. The unity and the karma is omnipresent and touching. Great post !
Debe,
This post drawing awareness to Breast Cancer is something we all need to read. I have a very good friend and once mentor that has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is going thru treatment now. Thank you ma'am for the post.
Hi Debe:
Everyone needs to help in the fight against Breast Cancer.
You can count on me to keep clicking the link!!!
Hi Debe,
The Zonta Club is actually Zonta International. It is an international organization that works to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. We do things locally as well. Here is a link to tell you more: http://www.zonta.org I looked up North Carolina and your state is in District 11. Basically, we are a group of women that meets twice a month and we have guest speakers that talk to us about promoting the health and welfare of women. We raise money for scholarships, various organizations locally and try to make people more aware of the injustices that occur to women in other countries and sometimes in ours. It's a good group. I enjoy being a member.
Clicked. Bookmarked. Added to my blog. Good stuff Debe! :)
