With some 20 years in the making, the future of this long planned toll road connecting New Tampa to I-275 still remains uncertain.  When the bids came in for the road, members of the Tampa - Hillsborough County Expressway Authority were not pleased with a projected $2.75 toll for the three mile road.

Now, according to the Tampa Tribune, members of the Authority are trying to cut costs on the proposed toll road by narrowing lane and shoulder widths, etc. in an effort to reduce the projected toll to $1.50.  These design changes will mean a speed reduction from 65 mph to 55 mph.

This proposed toll road now has an optimistic construction start in October and completion in 2010.  Until then, New Tampa commuters will have to continue using Bearss Ave. or S.R. 56 to get to I-275.
