After all the adversity of this season, it was only right that something good should happen, and oif you're looking for something good to happen why not do it in grandeous style, on a National Stage with the most storied name in college football. when all was said and done, UConn 33, Notre Dame 30.
This was nothing like the little engine that could, because this team didn't belong on the same filed as a program that special, in that stadium probably ever. A team with 9 years of Div 1 experience doesn't belong in the shadow of a team whose lineage goes back to 1887, with national titles, Heisman trophy winners, Hall of Fame recognition for the players, Knute Rockne, and the list goes on. Even in our home state, the UConn Girl's Basketball team carries a stronger presence than the Men's basketeball team and they've both won National titles.
This was a team that needed to recognize the memory of one of their own, tragically taken from life way too early over something probably too tricial, only time will tell. This win was guided by determination and guts and a spirit that is known only to the young men and coaches that were on the sidelines on Saturday.
By 6:30 PM on saturday, the rest of the world were reminded once more of the type of team, and young men that wore the state colors, and there probably wasn't a person that didn't know the story that didn't think it was the right ending, even some of those whose color choices were blue and gold.
Final score, UConn 33 Notre Dame 30 The winners chosen by the fates!
