Photos from Kula Maui Hawaii this morning

Kula Maui morning

Today was the Kula Maui version of the Upcountry Realtor Caravan.  It was such a beautiful day and the properties were quite varied.  One of the Kula homes for sale had a fantastic garden that was just like a manicured park!  I got some nice plant shots, as you can see here.  The climate in Kula is so perfect, and the soil is rich, making for wonderful growing conditions.  Do you have a green thumb?

There's some more, but I posted them on FaceBook and you can see them if you log in...

Georgina,

You have such a variety of plants on Maui for such a relatively small land mass. Great pictures, thanks.

Thanks for the quick comments!  Maui has many different climates and microclimates - almost everything but arctic!

Patricia - there's a Maui Tweetup on the 19th I think.  Let me know if you're interested.

I love your pictures. You should join the ActiveRain Nature Station and post them there, too.

I saw Melissa's comment (#1), but I think she must spend too much time Playing in the Rain and should get out more. We have lots and lots of pampas grass, aloes, and agave here.

Right now is a great time to go to the San Diego Zoo to see all of their aloes blooming:

Tree aloe at the San Diego Zoo

The agave attenuata has always been one of my favorite plants since I first saw it bloom back in 1978 at my uncle's place up in Los Angeles. Here is one of mine currently blooming:

Agave attenuata

Pampas grass is considered an invasive, non-native species here so I've removed all mine that I used to have and replaced them with agave attenuatas.

WE never have that kind of foliage...  Very nice... I would have to visit in the coldest season if i ever go or I would not enjoy the stay... Too HOT for me...

I am getting ready to post some photos, I hope by Tuesday night about our new garden, it is time for planting season here and we do a lot of container plants to avoid some of the major bugs we get here!
