Isn't Daytona A Real Word? Not According To Spell Check

Spell check has really changed in the past few years...you can find terms such as Google, Facebook and ActiveRain all in spell check...that's nice...but I have two questions.

Can ActiveRain Add Words To Spell Check?

I ask this because I rely on spell check heavily...not because I can't spell...alright...sometimes I miss a letter or two.... Can I use the excuse that I type fast?

Ha...I'm going to! :)

Which leads me to the second question...

Why isn't Daytona included?

There are over 3,330,000 Google searches for Daytona and sometimes when I type at the speed of lightening I spell it wrong...just about every time that I type it!

It sounds kinda silly but when you type Daytona enough...you come up with all kinds of ways to spell it..and darn if spell check doesn't suggest the correct way to spell it because it can't..according to spell check Daytona is not a word!

Even if you spell it right...guess what the red line surfaces! How about you are there words in spell check that you use regularly that no matter what you do...spell check tells you its wrong?  Look at that red lines everywhere!

I am with you here. I can not understand why the spell checkers don't just import the index to an atlas!

There is a lot of jargon we use here in Manhattan that is specific to us and I find myself going through the same steps you do, the same words over and over.

Midori - great point. There are a bunch of words that ought to be added. It took forever to get BLOG and MLS added. Blogging was another. I would be nice, if they won't or can't allow people to add to the directory to set up a way for folks to make suggestions.

But quite frankly, I would prefer they fix the proxy error issue over just about anything else.

Yeah, it red lines my town name, too. I just ignore it on the words I know are right.

Midori ---- I agree -- maybe Active Rain can ad the category "add to dictionary" to the list of words -- then, at least, you only have to be sure you typed it correctly the first time.

Daytona should be a word...  Seriously... the track should be enough to elevate it to word worthiness... and the fact that SEVERAL Chrysler cars have been called Daytona.  I decree that Daytona is now a word...

Midori,

It is funny yu wrote abut it. Every time I run a spell checker and see those red lines, I have to read it slowly to see if it just because the spell checker does not know it, or I simply made a mistake.

@Lane - and what about Rolex Daytona? Should be enough reason to put it on the map.

That always annoys me too. You'd think with the popularity of Daytona Beach, the spell check would recognize Daytona. And I'm with you on the typing fast. I do the exact same thing. AND, this keyboard has problems with the letter "i". It frequently misses the lower cose i, and when I type an upper case I, it usually adds a lower case i after it  >.<

Jeff is right. Blog, blogging, blogged were not in the spell check. Guess what "Blogged" still is not.
