Snow Day in Upper Marlboro MD

By
Real Estate Agent with Century 21 New Millennium

This is what it looks like in Upper Marlboro, MD today.  When I measured the snow on my lawn earlier today it was 13 inches and it has continued to snow steadily since.  This is the first big snow we have seen in this area since 2003.

Being from Jamaica originally, I can't help but be in complete awe when it snows and I am always taken aback by the sheer beauty of it.  Of course, the beauty wanes a bit when it's time to shovel the driveway (good thing I have my husband because it would take me weeks to dig the driveway out after this storm).

I have lived in the US since 1992 most of that time in Maryland (I spent 3 years in the Tidewater area of Virginia) and I have NEVER seen a white Christmas.  Could this be my first?

Stacey...what a delightful post; being from Michigan & living also in Illinois for a time, have seen many snow-falls.  But, you are right, there is something about a 'White Christmas' isn't there? Your photos do bring with it the beauty & awe AND the reality of having to move all the inches in order to leave the Home.  Good luck to your husband--better purchase a snow-blower for him for Christmas; they are so great when faced with the deep, heavy, cold whiteness.
Merry Christmas to you & yours. Have fun in the snow & here's hoping you do have a First in a White Christmas--there is nothing so beautiful when the refledted Christmas lights repeat the beauty of the winter Stars over head.

Barb & Sal - my poor husband is back out there trying to make some head way.  A snow blower is probably a good idea

Patricia - we are hanging out by the fireplace watching tv, enjoy your trip

Martha - I think this might be the year

Craig - I am amazed how many people are out and about in the area.

Dr Stacey Ann...Had to come back to your post to say that we "saw" the live report from MD on Fox CN tonight--I am so wrong--don't think that a snow blower would cut it since you'd have to dig out first before getting on the highways & BYWAYS  in your part of the Snowed in East; and that would not mean that you could get to a store. Hope your hubby takes a long, hot shower and then adds some "hot" to a drink by the fire. Enjoy your snow place & be careful.

Barb & Sal - the snow blower would have to be for the next big snow.  My husband actually just got back inside and is not in the hot shower you suggested.  It's still snowing so we will have to do it again tomorrow but it should hopefully not be as bad.  Thanks for checking back in with me.
