Pet Friendly Communities in Boca Raton FL - The Questions to Ask
Do you know the questions to ask if Rosie or Budha or Coco will be accepted in one of the gated communities in Boca Raton? Before you sign that contract of sale, please read this post and ask these questions. You don't want to find yourself owning a home you love only to be told the community or condo doesn't accept pets or that your beloved pet is not welcome. Sad to say, but this can and does happen.
Why, you ask? Some of the ads and listings say "pet friendly communities." What exactly does that mean? Does it mean the community or subdisision allows dogs ? Do they allow one dog with a maximum weight restriction of up to 20 lbs or 25 lbs? Do they allow one dog with a maximum weight restriction of up to 60 lbs? Are two dogs allowed? What are the weight restrictions for them? Are three dogs allowed?
Are there breed restrictions? Very often there are breed restrictions in gated communities in Boca Raton Florida. If you have what is considered a restricted breed, they are referring to pit bulls, often rottweilers and, depending on the commmunity, there may be some other breeds involved.
If you have a pit bull, it would be better to look to buying a house on a street and not in a gated community. Gated communities and even some non-gated communities have breed restrictions. A house on a street is a safe bet.
It's entirely possibly in Boca Raton, Delray Beach or the south Florida area that if you see pet restrictions they may be referring to one cat only.
Please don't try to sneak your dog in. Someone will undoubtedly see or hear him or her. Even if the dog doesn't go outside, they bark. I know they're very quiet, you say, so are mine, but if they hear the mailman or a bird, they bark. If you have just one neighbor who does not like dogs, you're bound to have problems with the homeowners or condo association. Why do you want problems as soon as you move in?
If it says one dog, two are not allowed. Some associations, on occasion, make an exception but this is rare and not to be counted on. The condo associations or homeowners associations make their rules. It if says one dog up to 25 lbs maximum, they are not going to take your 80 lb lab.
There are gated communities and condos in Boca Raton that are truly pet friendly that will fit your needs and gladly welcome Sandy, Zen and Max. You want to be comfortable in your new home and not have neighbors staring at you because your dog weighs 3 lbs too much.
Boca Raton FL is pet friendly. If you know the right questions to ask before you buy a home in one of the gated communities or condos, and your agent knows the right place to go, you're in luck.
