What is Foursquare?

Missy, I don't know about that one.  I have an app called Loopt, it's kind of  along the same lines/

Not sure my friends really want to know where I am all the time!  I'll check it out--it never hurts to be in the know.

Ok I didn't read the article yet (the imbed one) ... but I feel somewhat special since we are already friends on 4sq ;). Here's my take: 4sq could be really cool for local friends with time (you know like those in high school or college ... um, or without kids!). It is a nice touch to use with Twitter and the FaceBook feed I believe is already working - I have it on both my Blackberry and iPod. I think this could get way bigger ... and the competition built in makes people coming back. However I don't see the benefit to "adding everyone under the sun" as some treat their twitter acount. I don't know, do I really care that Jim from CA is going to the market? Not so much ;) Sorry for the novel.

I have a hard enough tme keeping track of where I am going never mind anyone else.  Sounjds interesting but I can pass.

Missy- I have found that my friends on FB make comments about where I am when I update my 4sq locations. It has been generating conversations and that is always a good thing. Will it be a pillar of my business plan in 2010? No, most likely not. It however, is another useful and quick way of keeping in front of my sphere.

Missy I have wondered what Foursquare was lall about as I keep seeing it more and more! Thanks for the information and I plan to look it over and possibly implement this weekend!

Missy - I haven't heard of this until now.  Interesting idea and time will tell where it goes.  So little time, so much in the way of utilizing it ...

Foursquare is, as any babyboomer knows, a game played with a basketball on a sidewalk or street. You grab a piece of chalk, draw a big square and add two lines, one in the center horizontally and another in the center vertically. You bounce the ball once and hit it so it lands in another square . . . you know, I don't want anybody knowing where I am all the time.

Hi Missy!  Funny but, I was going to write a post on this--I LOVE 4-Square!  I am the Mayor of several places--including my rehab and my real estate brokerage!  LOL  While I'm laying on the table, letting them yank my arm around, I'm signing in there and then go ahead and sign in at my office next door!  LOL

I haven't seen the benefit of it other than just a little addictive fun but, I do see that it is going to become much larger than it is!  My son and I ran out the other day and of course, I had to check in at the grocer (where I am the Mayor!!) and he hadn't heard of 4-S (age 22) but, thought it was 'WAY cool!'

One client recently called me after seeing one of my updates on FB. She mentioned that she saw that I was still in rehab.  I didn't know what she was referring to but, I had signed in one day from rehab and written something like, "No pain, no gain!" or "My therapist rocks" and that's how she knew.  I guess it's just another way to communicate as with Twitter and FB when you're out.  The fun part will begin when others join and meet you where you've 'checked in!'

I have heard of 4-Square (as a kid I used to play it at recess!) recently and then again at RE Bar in Indy.  I don't get this one...I am all about blogging,AR,Facebook, Tweetdeck, etc...but this one, not for me. 

I have mixed feelings about the concept that four squares offers. The widget is certainly cool but I still like the idea of linking to great content.
