Today while purusing my Google alerts regarding home staging I came across an article in the International Business Times called "Staging A Home Pros and Cons." While the author did mention some of the benifits of home staging, she gave some grossly erroneous information regarding the pricing of staging consultations. She stated that home staging consultations can range from $2000 to $5000. That's right, and for those of us who know the home stagingbusiness, that is pretty shocking news.
Has anyone in the home selling business heard of a home staging professional charging that much for a consultation? Most consultations are done for a fraction of that. Average consultation fees are approximately $150-$300.
I wish the author had done some more research before writing this article, especially since many home sellers are already hesitant about investing in home staging. Those who do avail themselves of the services of a professional stager can definitely recoup the cost of home staging when the house sells more quickly and for a better price than its unstaged competitors. I only hope that the misinformation in the article does not scare them off.
