Lake Havasu is one of most diverse lakes that I have ever been to. For those people that think that the West Coast does not have a boating environment you are mistaken. The thing that I find appealing about Lake Havasu is that we can do or go many different places. My wife and I like to take friends out and pull them on a wedge style tube. I enjoy watching my so-called muscular friends hold on for dear life. I have tried to teach my wife Alison how to wakeboard and ski without much success. Husbands and wives should not be allowed to teach each other new skills. I recently went out with some friends to ski one late afternoon and I was not prepared for what was about to happen. I thought that I was a better than average slalom skier but these guys were near professional skiers. One friend named Brian started out in the water backwards, I knew that I was in trouble then. They both were also very proficient at the Sky Ski; back-flips, barrel-rolls, and front-flips. After the sports activities were done we just floated and relaxed. I am a professional floater, I can do it all day long.
In April, 2007 the Desert Storm Poker Run was in full force. After the offshore powerboat racing leagues split the owners and racers into two different schedules and rules, they now take their fast boats out to poker runs. It is amazing to see so many fast offshore boats hanging around with the public and donating money to charity. It was a great day because a number of US military got to board a few fast boats for a free ride. I understand that nearly $20,000 was raised for local charities.
If you like wild parties, Lake Havasu and the Colorado River is the place for you. From the London Bridge Channel to steamboat springs to the sand bar, you can always find a cool place to hang out. I know that some people don't like that scene so you can go to three dunes or water ski cove. When my nieces come out for a visit we like to find a quiet cove and swim or go hiking. I challenge a visitor to find one of Lake Havasu mines along the California shoreline. Please take extra water. If you see Alison and me out in our blue and white Lavey Craft boat please stop and say "Hi".
