Old Couples Holding Hands * It's disgusting!

If that's what you think, please read on.....  I was driving to an open house today which I was hosting in Broomfield CO, and I noticed many signs of spring.  There was one sign of spring in particular that I noticed.   An older couple, both with graying hair, taking a leisurely walk down the sidewalk together.  They didn't seem to be in a hurry.  They didn't even appear to have much to say to each other.  No longer did they need to rush to that next appt. or did they find it necessary to always come up with something to say to each other.  When I was younger, I remember times when I would spot an older couple in a restaurant or in the car driving down the highway that didn't seem to have a thing to say to each other.  I remember thinking that it was very sad.  But now I think I finally get it. When a couple has reached the point where they no longer feel it is necessary to always make small talk or be busy doing something every waking moment of every day, I think they've made it.   They've reached contentment.  I think that can be a good thing; in fact I think it's perfect!

Sounds perfect to me, too. What a beautiful, gorgeous post. The longer I am married, the less I feel I need to 'say' to my husband. Except to step away from the remote . . . :)
