Spring is in the air.  If you are feeling a little spring fever, take an afternoon to get out in the sunshine and enjoy it!  One of the best ways I have found is to spend the afternoon having a picnic at a park.  Parks are the perfect place for a walk either for exercise or with that special someone, or to let the kids go wild (without tearing up your home).

Local parks in Collin County can provide the spring fever release that we are all looking for.  A longtime favorite park in McKinney is Finch Park.  Mckinney has many beautiful parks, of which this is one of the oldest.  The park features two pavilions that can be rented out for parties, a playground and splash pad for the kids (my kids love it!), restrooms, two lighted tennis courts, basketball court, and large shaded areas perfect for picnics.  The old large trees make this park picturesque and who could forget the small creek that runs thru it.  http://www3.mckinneytexas.org/www/parks.aspx?id=1942

Allen, Texas is known for Celebration Park.  Unlike Finch Park, this is a new park and does not feature gigantic hovering trees.  What it doesn't have in trees it makes up for in running space and a sprawling oversized playground area.  Kids will be entertained for hours on the playground alone, but they will also enjoy the awesome splash pad during those hot summer months.  A covered  pavilion,  picnic  tables, barbecue grills, baseball/softball fields, soccer fields, basketball courts, and a hike and bike trail complete this large park.  It truly features something for everyone!  For more information on parks in Allen, Texas visit http://www.cityofallen.org/departments/parks_recreation/parks/community_parks.htm.

Frisco, Texas has over sixty parks to choose from.  A wonderful one to visit is Frisco Commons Park.  This park has over 63 acres, a Grand pavilion with a large performing amphitheater.  Frisco's largest playground system will keep children entertained for hours!  A large fully stocked pond for fishing, veteran's memorial, nature garden, picnic tables, BBQ grills, restroom facility, walking trails (1 mile), and paved parking lot are sure to please even the most difficult to please.  The Frisco Commons Park earned several awards: "2005 Park Design Excellence Award" by the Texas Recreation & Park Society, and "The Metroplex's Best Family Park" by Dallas Child Magazine and the "2008 Facility Design Award - Class II" by the National Recreation and Parks Association, Southwest Regional Council.  http://www.friscofun.org/parks/parks/Pages/default.aspx

Cities throughout Collin County have multiple parks to visit.  Take time to make special memories with your loved ones outdoors in nature.  The memories you make will last a lifetime, and who knows maybe someday the story of memories made there will be passed down as the next generation enjoys the same park.
