I wanted to share some local historical information about my home town of Farmingdale New York.  This house is not for sale, but there are other gems in Farmingdale NY.  The history of Long Island NY was originally occupied by Native Americans. One of the first settlers Thomas Powell, purchased land from local Natives in 1695 which we now know as Bethpage, Farmingdale, Old Bethpage, Plainedge, Plainview and Melville - all located on Long Island NY.

As far as who maintains and owns the property, the Long Island Historical Society was last listed. Another resource to use is the Farmingdale - Bethpage Historical Society

That part of our country is so rich in history!  And the house pictured provides a prime example of a home that deserves to be protected for historical purposes!

Hi Carole, that is a beautiful home; I am so glad that it is preserved.

Wow-NY state has very functional historical road markers that a motorist can actually see!!(if not sideswipe!!!)  The ones in Indiana are  usually 50 feet from the shoulder of the road and at a right angle to the pavement; they are very hard to see.

Great job pulling over and capturing that historical marker sign Carole.

Those are all over Long Island, but they're always in a place that it's impossible to read, let alone get a photo of one.

Carole, that is a very historic homes. I've seen homes here built in 1900 and I think those are old. Compared to this one, it is considered 'new'. :D

I thought you were on Long Island. You've moved to Locust Valley, or is it on Long Island, too?

I love history, and there's more here in San Diego than I originally believed, but the old buildings simply aren't here because of earthquakes and wildfires.

Jennifer, I know :) There are some great historical locations on Long Island.  In the summer or at least when it becomes even warmer Laura and I are going to travel out the far east end of Long Island to discover what treasure lay over there!

Myrl, I agree, there is still a lot that we stumble upon after returning form our Feng Shui consultations or just taking a drive around

Bob and Carolin, it is and I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Michael, You never know what you'll come across.

Janice, I can only imagine the stories these homes could share, as well as the land.  There is so much rich history on Long Island that many people do not know about.

Bruce, the landmarks on Long Island NY are all over the place, sometimes as your driving they just seem to pop up out of now where, like this one.  it's so random to come across.

Craig, Laura gets credit for these shot :) she parked two blocks away and walked over to get these photos.

Gabriela, It's probably about a 45min to an hour drive.  It's located in the middle of Long Island.

Jo, Thank you, it's very nice to get out and explore what Long Island NY has to offer to those who live and visit there

David, haha yes this is the modern old home of Farmingdale.  Closer to main st are some of the oldest apartments in Farmingdale.

Russel, I'm still on Long Island, this home specifically is located in Farmingdale New York.  It's such a shame that your historical sites are brought down by the elements.  Perhaps marks on the land can still share stories about what once was there.

Elyse, Your Welcome....Its so odd how it's positioned, literally off a main road...you wouldn't think anything of it, if the sign was not there.

What beautiful scenery - I've only been to Massachusetts on the East Coast but it is so beautiful and so different from the landscape on the West Coast. I just love that house too. Thanks for the gorgeous photos!
