Puppy Love - Coming and Going !

Yesterday afternoon while walking around Seaport Village to capture some of the wonderful things to see at one  San Diego's real treasures, I came upon this little guy and it was love at first sight. Having enjoyed the love and companionship of Yorkshires all of my adult life, there is a special reaction when I come upon these amazing little creatures.

Having lost my little girl last September and missing her so much, seeing this little guy rekindled feelings I have had to deal with that stung my heart. I think I will never get over the pain of that fateful day when my Little Tinker went in for her annual teeth cleaning , never to come home again. Being able to play with this little guy and touching him brought back all the good memories of why I love these amazing little creatures so much. I can tell that it is getting close to the time when I want to experience that special love again.

Hi Paul, Well for sure it is getting close to the time. Maybe over the summer. And I surely will teach the next one to get his teeth brushed every single day. It takes about 2 weeks and then the give in. Should be fun. But I am glad I won't have to teach him to shave, :-)

Hi Gary, You are so right. He was so cute. I already picked the name out for my next one. Max. I am not sure if I will go teacup on the next one but I am sort of looking. Even with just doing the post about the one I photographed yesterday has had my mind on him all day today. Been out showing property and found my Buyers a home on Coronado Island and I need get started on the comps to prepare an offer.

Hi William, Sorry to hear of your loss. We also lost our Leo, but now have Ziggy to bring us that joy again. That cutie you found is a tough one to pass up. Take care.

Hi Marchel.

Boy do I know what you are talking about. That has been  the one reason to wait a while as I am still trying to reconcile her leaving me. This is a long story Marchel but Tinker had stepped on a bee out in her play area a few years ago and her trachea closed up and she was strangling before I had realized something had happened to her. When I found her she was all but gone. I forced open her trachea, breathed for her and helped her live. The Vet said her chances were 0 because of her size and the bee venom being so toxic to her. From then on I had an antihistamine on hand in case it ever happened again. And it did one more time without much incident because I injected her immediately. After her teeth cleaning procedure , the Vet said when she wasn't breathing, they put her in oxygen. Oxygen doesn't help if the trachea has closed up and that is what I suspected. Anyway, the long and the short is that she came to me so many times in my dreams and asks me to breath for her. Because it is so engrained in me, I have waited. When I am reasonably sure that is out of system, I will embrace the new and wonderful love of another little one. Perhaps I shouldn't have gone here in my reply to you but I wanted you especially, to know this. Because I know you understand.

Hi Frank,

Losing a love is always hard on all us who know this kind of unconditional love. In time we know we want to experience it again because it can be so profound. We are all creatures that need Love to make it through life. Lots of different kinds of love and we know how to give it freely. Perhaps it is life's greatest gift. No, I am sure of it.

William - That is about as cute of a little pup as I've seen.  I do remember when you lost your little Tinker last autumn, and how really sad that was.  Why do I think there will be another Yorkie companion in your life before too much longer:-)

Mi Myrl,

Well I keep running into these little guys. Seems everywhere I go, I run into little Yorkies and of course I can't resist introducing myself. Sort of like God saying, " Pay attention to what I am showing you". And I am listening. I can name all sorts of excuses I suppose but I know that love doesn't have to be convenient to be worthwhile. So Myrl, you just may be right.

H Fred, I hear you and they do make fantastic family members because they generally are playful and have wonderful dispositions. They love being loved and express it back so willingly and they are certainly loyal to a fault. You make a good case Fred.

What a sweet face, and I love how you captured him in a purposeful stride. Your response to Myrl reminds me that God works in mysterious ways. What's clear to me is that when you do make the decision, that is going to be a very lucky dog!

Hello William, I am so sorry for your loss. My Kasey will be 12 this year - and I dread the thought that one day I will lose her. I can't imagine not having my shadow with me always... i would feel just as you do each time I saw a sheltie....

Good morning John, Thank you so much. I enjoyed this little guy so much. When I was walking away, I think I actually walked a bit lighter as well and it brightened my day a great deal.

Hi Debi, we dog lovers all share this in common. We understand the joy they bring in our lives. Somehow the care, the love, the attachment just make our lives more complete as parents always do with their children. Even though they depend on us, they also give us more than we even fully understand. The bonds that bind are very very strong. Saying good bye to that is one of the most difficult events in our lives. As difficult as that is, in the greater plan of the universe, being able to feel that pain, actually doubles the joy. As I have come to learn, your Kassey doesn't fear it. She celebrates each day as though it was an eternity. We could learn this too.

I've always thought that Yorkies are really cute.  I'm usually a fan of bigger dogs, but I must say, I adore the Yorkshire Terrier.
