25th Wedding Anniversay: Your Help Needed!

By
Real Estate Agent with Fathom Realty West Sound WA State 52404

Okay, so on July 2nd, 2008, my wife and I will have been married 25 years. Certainly quite an accomplishment by today's standards. It truly is mostly her doing. She has been the one who has provided a constant source of joy and optimism in our marriage and family. She is the one who has put up with me for so long, and continued to love me in spite of my shortcomings. She truly is an amazing woman!

Plus, she's totally a 'Hottie!'

As such, I really want to do something extra special for our 25th anniversary.

That's where you all come in. I need some suggestions on where to spend our anniversay.

Any suggestions or ideas? Any romantic get-a-ways that you have experiences and would recommend?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Rich,

For our 5th Anniversary, I took my wife to the Hotel Bellwether in Bellingham and we stayed in their fabulous lighthouse condo!

Here's a link to their Photo Gallery.

Here's a link to the Hotel itself (for reservations 'n such)

Here's a picture I took of the Lighthouse that I've now had printed 24" tall and framed.

Hotel Bellwether's Lighthouse Condo in Bellingham

Right near the Hotel is Anthony's Homeport with great seafood and a new restaurant owned by the owners of Anthony's Homeport called the "Woodfire Grill".  Fine dining within walking distance!

There is also an option for an in-room massage.

I can tell you that the place has an incredible "Wow" factor.  They even let our German Shepherd stay with us in the room (for an extra $50 for the entire stay)

Best regards,
-Bill

Hi Rich,

Antibes on the French Riveria or Cote d'Zur --what a marvelous place.  Rent a villa, enjoy the shore, shop the markets, visit the countryside and drink the MARVELOUS WINE!  Nothing could be better except to be in Carolina.  Good Luck and happy planning.

Hey Rich, it doesn't get any better than Cancun.  Unless you have a ton of money.  In that case, you should zip down to Bora Bora for a while.  It has been rated the most beautiful tropical destination for a long time.  It is near Tahiti but apparently it is much better!

Rich -- Marco Island -- Marco Beach Ocean Resort  Five Stars and spectular!   You could also rent a home on Marco Island (http://www.marcomagic.com/)...  You are right on the beach.   Most of Marco Island is highrise condos so also have lots of options.   Naples has some spectular options too!  But to be honest if you are looking for a nice bungalow on the beach -- KEY WEST!   Head there later than your anniversary you could enter the Hemingway look alike contest...

Well, did you decide yet? I think I would take her where you both have never been before and where you both have hobbies you like. Remember you need those passports if leaving the country. I like CO, Mountains of NC, I believe you can remember or know of something she said once of where she would like to go and go there. You pack her clothes and take her there without telling her where it will be. Have fun in what ever you do.

Rich, congratulations to you and your wife.  Remember that Europe in July is extremely hot! I wouldn't recommend it. When you go to Paris, or Florence, etc., you'll want to be able to enjoy romantic walks with your wife.

If your wife likes the ocean, the beaches here in Florida are some of the best. You can choose from many different places. My favorite is Palm Beach. There are many resorts there right on the beach. You don't have to go anywhere else, everything you need is right there.

Rich,

I'm so sorry I've been abscent for the past few weeks and missed your Anniversary but happy belated 25th.  You are both so lucky to have each other!  It's wonderful that you both are happy to fly to far away places.  Wish I could do that.  If you went already - hope it was all you wished for.  If it hasn't happened yet,  we wish both a wonderful and spectacular time together!

Warmest Regards,

Lisa & Bob

Hello Rich,

Here are a couple of more "local" recommendations: Kathryn and I spent several nights at the Empress Hotel in Victoria a few years ago.  We both loved the Service, the International feel, and of course the Romantic Feelings engendered.  As an added bonus, we walked most of the hallways, and passing by one room in particular, we both felt a very strong presence -- there was something special and mysterious about that room that put the "antennas up" feeling as we passed by it -- we passed by it three or four times and the same strong feeling returned (I won't tell you the room number in case you want to explore this bonus element).

Another recommendation from SW Washington is come to the Columbia River Gorge, just east of Vancouver, Washington.  The Dolce Skamania Lodge is a great venue in and of itself, as well as a base to take many fun and adventurous side trips on both the Washington and Oregon side of the Columbia River.

Some of the possible side trips include: Maryhill Mansion/Museum built by Sam Hill; Stonehenge Replica WWI memorial also built by Sam Hill; Multnomah Falls; Restored section(s) of the famous Old Columbia Gorge Highway; Hood River/White Salmon Wind Surfing -- the number of Surfers & Kiters is amazing on any given summer day!; Crown Point Vista House -- one of the most photographed spots in the Gorge; Beacon Rock -- you can actually hike to the top of that crazy rock!; you can also take a trip on a Sternwheeler!  Finally, if you're still around on the 4th, stop into Vancouver's Fireworks Show -- often billed as the largest fireworks show west of the Mississippi.  This is just a sampling of what is available... (of course, the Columbia River Summer Chinook are quite large; and the chance to catch and release a 6'+ Sturgeon is attractive to many a fisherman in these parts of Washington State!).

Congrats on the upcoming 25 year mark!

John & Kathryn

Did anyone suggest Detroit yet?  Probably not, so I will toss it in the ring. I promise you, she will never forget that you took her here for your 25th!
