I Love this business! It is a constant source of unexpected pleasure! The following conversation took place a short time ago as we were wrapping up a closing with a buyer that I had been working with.
Setting: Conference room, in a closing...
Closer: Ok, Congratulations, you are now a homeowner!
Buyer: Yay, me!
Closer: As a service of closing with NLTA, we would like to offer you all of the documents you just signed on a CD. Would you like that?
Buyer: (pause) Um, I don't think so.
Setting Now Changes: Parking lot, me walking the buyer out...
Me: Congrats again! "etc etc"
Buyer: Can I ask you a question?
Me: Sure
Buyer: Do a lot of people get that CD she offered me?
Me: Yes, I'd say most.
Buyer: What do they do? Listen to their house documents in their cars?
Me: Actually, they usually put the CD in their safe deposit box. (yes, I managed to do this with a straight face)
Buyer: Oh, that makes sense. Thanks again!
Did I mention that I love this business!!!!
I can hear it now, broadcasting across the land on WRLTR, Let's listen in shall we?
"Welcome back! This is Casey Kasem with this week's "Top 40 Audio Documents"! In the highest debut of the year, blasting onto the charts at number 23 is "Truth in Lending; as narrated by Morgan Freeman".
This of course is a remake of the all time favorite "Truth in Lending; as narrated by Charlton Heston"; which held the top spot for 9 months back in the 90's. I can remember where I was the first time I heard it, and I'm sure you can too.
Oddly enough, this is the first time that government regulations have forced a remake. We'll see if it has enough steam to topple the reigning number one, "Donald Trump's rendition of Deed of Trust"
Too funny!
