These pictures were taken on Good Friday 2010. Lots of Texan's were taking advantage of the first beautiful semi warm day to view the exceptional crop of wildflowers with their families.
This meadow was covered with yellow flowers.
Look at the cute baby!
There were lots of cars parked near here, so we knew the wild flowers were going to be spectacular even before we stopped the car.
These look like wild petunias, do you know what they are?
I think this is what we call a dewberry bush. They produce wonderful berries you can use for preserves, pies or syrup. Be careful when you pick them, they have thorns on the stems.
This old fort is now a real estate office. There were "No Trespassing" signs, but I bet they would let you trespass if you wanted some real estate.
Historic emblem near the fort.
Doesn't it look like a texas star in the middle of this flower? I also saw them with red blossoms as well.
These yellow blossoms remind me of snap dragons. The petals were very delicate. The flowers were near a rail road track.
Hope you get to explore your part of the country.
