After a 2 year absence, Screen on the Green returns to Piedmont Park on May 27th. The widely popular outdoor movie series will celebrate its 11th year back in its original home, Midtown's Piedmont Park. A severe drought forced the series to move to Centennial Olympic Park for the last two years.
The summer schedule will be:
- May 27th - National Treasure
- June 3rd - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
- June 10th - Dreamgirls
- June 17th - Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
- June 24th - TBA
PeachtreeTV will be holding a contest April 12-30 allowing viewers to choose the movie to close out the series on June 24th. The choices are Jurassic Park, Casino Royale, or The Incredible Hulk.
Previous years movies have included classics such as The Sound of Music, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Casablanca, and Funny Girl. More recent hits like Chicago & Dreamgirls, are often combined with popular 80's movies such as E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Mommie Dearest, Home Alone, Footloose, Back to the Future, Jaws, and Ghostbusters.
While blankets, pinic baskets, coolers, food, and alcohol are all welcome, pets, umbrellas, glass containers, grills, and high lawn chairs are not. The movies begin at dusk, but be sure to get there early to get good seating.
