This is National Open House Weekend so if you decide to skip the Kansas City Spring Home Tour, there are nearly 1,000 Open Houses in Kansas City this Sunday! The one must-see home is in Hampstead Gardens; it makes me think of the Great Gatsby. Designed by Edward Tanner, this fabulous home was built in 1928 when JC Nichols was creating the Plaza, Ward Parkway and Brookside areas. You can see for yourself from 1-4pm @ 6021 Ward Parkway. I fell in love when I first walked into 5929 Brookside Boulevard! The home was built in 1913 but has been thoroughly and tastefully updated. They left the architectural details such as the columns in the dining room entry but added the right stone and modern appliances and bathroom fixtures so that you are absolutely delighted with the layout and appearance. If you're looking for storybook charming, go see 420 W Dartmouth in Romanelli Gardens. This one has the arched doorways, trés cool fireplace and hardwoods, and the cutest little veranda you have ever seen.
