Inside Sales vs Outside Sales What Do You Prefer? II

Outside sales is the sales culture that i am work in. I am an independent contract for my company. There is a lot of freedom but nonethless production is what will keep food on the table month in and month out. As an outside salesperson you manage your own schedule. You are responsible for keeping and setting your appointments with customers. More importantly you are responsbile for reminding your client of that appointment. For out of state cutomers these appointments are made over the phone so if they cancel.  If the client cancels and you were traveling to meet that customer and they cancel it can throw your schedule off completley for that day. Regardless of the weather, traffic delays ,  or automobile troubles you have to stay motivated and on point.  You should be able to adapt to new envornments and people easily. Appearance counts in large amounts. You must always look and be ready no matter how you feel. In outside sales you are your own daily supervisor. You need to look after yourself in order to stay focused. Outsides sales are prone to distractions, due to the fact that you dont have anybody to look over your shoulder. So fellow real professionals would you consider yourself to be in outside or inside sales? Which do you prefer?

I like being an outside sales guy.  I thrive on personal contact.

Eddy...I didn't know which one to pick.... lol  Meaning.... you have two of the same blogs...

Anyhow...I prefer the outside sales. I have done both. But I only did inside my very first yr in the business. At this moment, I am 50/50. Running part of an office, but able to do both, is a nice combination. Besides...like you said, more flexibility...but you have to be more focused though. I also get my business from online, phones, internet, and outside (personal) contacts. Hence one reason why I am 50/50.

As a Realtor, unless you are involved with new home sales, the only option left is outside or no sales! I like going after the business rather having to be patient and wait for it to come to me.
