“The central Ohio housing market is on fire right now” brought to you by Maureen McCabe Real Living HER, that is a quote of the Columbus Board of REALTORS® President in an email to members.
The CBR tells us via email at the same time they announce it to the media now. That practice is NOT that old. When I first started a blog I usually heard it from the Columbus Dispatch or a TV station online. No email to members and the boards site for members was not updated at the time the media was given the statistics, those are positive changes, telling your membership.
The headline on our email said "March home sales up 54 percent" that is up from last month...54.1% over February 2010 sales be exact... according to the Columbus Board of REALTORS® home sales are up 25.3% from March 2009.
I did not think we did month over month usually...
The CBR President also said inventory is way up... she says it like that is a good thing... Gee I am trying to remember a conversation at a meeting earlier this week about inventory. Maybe I was confused then and see clearly now this is a good thing. I'll get back to you on that.

CBR: March home sales up 54 percent in central Ohio (again that is increase over February 2010)
My contributions this month as far as breaking out market reports were way down due to technical difficulities on this site and my search site, and I seem to have a crazy number there...
"All counties combined Central Ohio home sales in March were up 1.4.3%. The Columbus Board of REALTORS® covers a lot of ground, lots of counties. There were 1395 sales vs. 1220 in March 2009." 1.4.3% ??? Oh dear. Central Ohio home sales by school district March 2010
I can assure you the numbers by school district are year over year, not increase from February 2010.
Can the 1395 be correct? I do single family homes the CBR numbers ar residential sales (single family and condominium combined.) I can tell you the 1.4.3% is wrong. It should be 14.3% that was published using Trendgraphix on April 8, 2010. The 25.3% published April 22,2010 includes condos. Condo sales were that good? Or is there some serious reconciliation of numbers that takes place? I've always wondered.
The board says there were 1,704 properties (residential so single family and condo ) sold in March. Remember the Columbus Board of REALTORS® Multiple Listing Service (MLS) serves all of Franklin, Delaware, Fayette, Madison, Morrow and Union Counties and parts of Champagne, Clark, Hocking, Licking, Fairfield, Knox, Logan, Marion, Pickaway and Ross Counties. Big.
Of course tax credits which end April 30,2010 are the reason for sales being up.
