Trulia: Fellow Agent Became Annoyed With Me For Telling The Truth About Riverside County Job Outlook

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Realty Works Temecula BRE No: 01233850

Trulia is the worst site for inappropriate comments and postings.  Their blogs are full of agents posting one liners ads that they call a blog post.  The problem with Trulia is there are over zealous agents who don't really care about telling the truth or educating consumers.  Most of them are there to get their points and they are so desperate for someone to call them they will say anything and even lie.

A while back, a consumer posted a question about the unskilled labor market here in Riverside County.  I answered the question truthfully.  After all the information is out there on the Internet.  Riverside County is one of the worst Counties in California for unskilled labor.

I told the consumer that if they didn't already have a job here or a hook-up for a job, then they should wait until they had a job before moving here.

Right now our unemployment rate is approximately 15% and much higher for teenagers.     http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/stories/PE_News_Local_W_summerjobs30.329beca.html

I feel that telling the truth about our economy is just like any other disclosure.  We have to tell the facts and if someone asks me for advice about searching for a job here I will tell them to simply secure a job first to make sure they will be able to survive.

Contact me for more information about life and living in Southern California.  I sell homes in Riverside County, including Temecula, Temecula Wine County, De Luz, La Cresta, Bear Creek, Murrieta, Wildomar and Menifee.   Anywhere in Southwest Riverside County and North San Diego County.

Jane,

You did the right thing! My stance is that educating my customers is my number one goal. They need to have knowledge in order to make an informed and appropriate decision. If that decision is not to buy, so be it. I can live with myself and my client is better off.

Your article also brought back a stat I read once. It said that every customer that feels you did a great job for will tell 1-2 people about their experience. However, everyone that feels you did poor job will tell at least 10 people.

Have a great weekend!

Jane - I don't understand why another agent would be annoyed.  Does he paint a rosy picture when the situation is bleak at best?  Honesty is the best bet, especially when numbers don't lie.  Regardless of the state of the economy, a secured job is the best situation before moving.

I agree with Daniel, you were rightin being honest. Once I used the expression "too honest" and my mother asked how can you be "too honest". She was right. You can't.

Daniel:  Thank you very much and I agree that education should be our goal.  Consumers want honesty.  You have a great weekend too!

Cynthia:  The other agent did post a comment about all of the places that hire.  However, they are not hiring right now.  Most places want experienced workers and I have proof as I have an out of work teenager here at home who has tried unsuccessfully to get a job.  It's just the way the economy is here right now and hopefully it will get better.  I am not a pessimist but I speak the truth!

Billi:  Thank you and I agree with your mom too.  Too honest is not possible.

As a friend of mine used to say:  Why lie when the truth will do?  Jane people generally will appreciate honesty.  Sugarcoating a situation is far more harmful than helpful do I applaude you.
