How many of you have part-time help?

I am very excited because I finally have a part-time assistant starting on Thursday.

I've been so burnt out lately trying to keep up with everything that it had started effecting my energy levels.

Anyway, her name is Lea and she seems great, and very resourceful.

Hopefully the work she does will indirectly come back in the form of additional business that I can generate, thus allowing me to increase her hours.

How many of you out there have some part time help?   What duties do they cover for you?

Are you happy with them and has the work they've done help to acheive additional business?

Ralph,

I actuallyhave a Transaction Cordinator what she does is manage my files once they are signed around.  Making sure that everything is followed in the file.

I pay her by the file.  She also does this work for about 20 other agents and she is running about 100-150 files per day. she is closing at least one file per day, along with doing short sale work.  she has allowed me to get other things going and my production has trippled

I help brokers build businesses they love.

This job has way too many moving parts to try and do it alone. Figure out what you are best at, what you want to be "better" at -- and then assign tasks and responsibilities to leverage yourself in your weaker areas. In my case, I will happily go make client calls while a brilliant marketing assistant does something to my website (no, I don't know the details, but I like the results!)

I agree with Leslie, having someone to fill in your weaker traits should benefit your business. I have needed an assistant for about a year but just when I get ready to hire on it slows down. Vicious cycle. Best of luck Ralph.

. . by experience.

Have your systems set up and let her have it. . micromanaging is not good for anyone.

Helping make your real estate dreams a reality

Hi Ralph -- I use a part-time virtual assistant. She handles routine searches, designing flyers, updating my web site, personalizes my newsletters; formats and sends out my electronic newsletter, gets Craig's List advertisements posted, etc. It's great being able to hand off routine tasks, allowing me more time for lead generation and follow up - things I need to do to grow my business.

Good job for making that decision!   They SAY, once you add help to do the clerical, you can take your business to the next level.    I have had help off and on over the last decade, but only when I really need it!   Good luck!

Leslie,

Good advice.  She starts tomorrow and I'm going to sit down today and starting dividing up some tasks.

I do not have any help.  I don't plan on any part time help either.  I fugured out that if I hire someone, I have to increase my production and that means most likely work a bit harder in order to earn as much.   Instead, I refer my overload to another agent and take the referral fee.  I don't have to work any harder and I am making more money.

I still do my own work, but at some point I'll have to either hire an assistant, or do as William Feela does and refer work out.
