Summer is in full swing in Madison, and the 4th of July is fast approaching. If you have not made your holiday plans yet, the Madison area is host to many Independence Day celebrations. Below are some of the fun events that are happening this weekend. Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

Elver Park Fireworks

 Come for this festive and family friendly event! Date: Friday, July 2 Location: Elver Park, 1250 McKenna Blvd., Madison, WI 53719 Phone: (608) 266-4711 Fireworks: 9:30 p.m. Cost: Free

Try-It Triathlon

The Recreation Committee is hosting the second annual Sprint Triathlon (250 meter swim, 7.5K bike ride and 2.5K run). Participants must be children entering sixth grade though adult (younger participants may participate if accompanied by a parent). Meet at the Shorewood Hills Pool for the 8:30 am start. Register in advance at Village Hall or onsite on July 4th at 8:00 am. Fee $5 each ($10 maximum per family). This is a great way to kick-off the Fourth of July! Independence Day Bash
