Okay for most of you, the header makes no sense at all, but for a few, (the Dutch few), you will know exactly what I am talking about.
If you are a soccer fan, you will know by know that the Soccer Team from Holland just make it to the finals of the World Cup in soccer being played in South Africa.
Most of the time I am not much for promoting my birth heritage, but when your native country gets to the finals in the worlds most popular game, it is something very special and reason enough to feel a little Dutch Pride for a few days, until the final game.....
We just love the way this tournament is almost an extension to the Winter Olympics and how the fans and events that are happening along side of the tournament is as entertaining and exciting as the games them selves.
We are proud Canadians and Linda was born and raised in Port Coquitlam in BC. and I became a Canadian Citizen at the earliest possible opportunity in 1989 after the mandatory 3 year trial period. To see the Canadian Pride grow to the proportions it showed everywhere during the 2010 Olympics and just recently during the 2010 Canada Events in and around Victoria, was awesome.
The World Cup is another event where so many things can go wrong, but I think it is a wonderful credit to the organizers and the fans from every country to see the entire event taking place with enthusiasm, great spirit, but without major incidents, very cool.
No matter who wins the Cup, (although I hope Holland will win it finally) the real winners are the people and Nation of South Africa, who would have thought that this was possible 20 years ago.
