Squirrel Hanging! by Bunni, In The Light Photography

The squirrels are scurrying all around the neighborhood gathering nuts and storing them away. They are busy little creatures and they are planning ahead for the months when their supply of "low hanging fruit" - acorns and seeds -- is not available. (Here in New England, it is bound to be covered with snow!)

I've spent some mornings and evenings on my front porch and watched these industrious little animals running back and forth collecting their foodstuffs.  It doesn't matter if the weather is hot or cool, they are just working all the time

Something tells me we should be planning ahead, just like these little critters.  We've had our laid-back easy summer, the kids are back in school, the seasons are about to change, and it's time to get down to business.  Whether you're going to blog more, or make more phone calls, or direct mail, or get involved with some new (for you) organization around town, it's time to start paying attention to making sure our "storehouses" have enough supply to get us through the winter.

On Prospecting and Squirrels

Interestingly enough, I've heard that squirrels store and store and store their nuts everywhere, but, with their little brains, really don't remember where they put them all. But they've got so much stored, when they need a supply, they can always find one

We do have an advantage over the squirrels! We can choose get organized, keep good records, and to act with purpose. Just as there are always acorns, there are always buyers and sellers who need to buy or sell now!  So if we plan ahead, put some systems in place, and do more than we need to now, when we need to find some "nuts" and "seeds" for our own tables, we'll have gathered ahead of time and we won't have to go too far to find them!

You are right that we need to be more orgainzed and prepared....January and February are always my busiest months.  I work so hard in November and December while other agents are on vacation, but it always pays off!  Keep at it and you will never struggle in the Spring!

You are so right anyone who hasn't planned well this year may find themselves wondering where they buried the nuts in November.

Ginny - don't you know it!  But as long as we sow, we shall reap!

Carla- The photo was taken by my sister--she is a great photographer--puts me to shame!

Karen- I've always told sellers who want to take their homes off the market before the holidays "until Spring" that Spring starts on January 15th in real estate!

Well Cindy, I've seen the desks of some not impeccably organized agents over the years--the nuts are probably buried in plain sight!

Kathryn- and best we do it BEFORE the snow flies...you know how cold it gets in January!

Lisa - I love your nutty little story.  I'm afraid I can relate a little too well to how these industrious yet forgetful little creatures operate.  Great advice.  Thank you!

Lisa, it's a bit easier for the squirrels as it's been an excellent year weather wise for their food supply. As for our 'food supply' although the supply is limited, there is is enough to keep us from starving, we just need to let them know we are their 'safe haven'

Squirrels do tend to get into a lot of things.  I still think they are a marvel of nature to watch.

Carra, my sister took that cute little guy hanging on her feeder outside her condo--he's a greedy little guy. She puts out corn for the squirrels so they'll leave the feeder alone, but no....he's at it again!

Tony and Sue - thanks for stopping by - Here's hoping that we've done enough prospecting to carry us through till spring ... winter is well on it's way!  I'm glad that the acorns (leads) are not all covered with snow yet... there is still time!
