Networking 101: Building a residual income in Real Esate

By
Mortgage and Lending with Tim Davis

It is Sunday night and I wanted to get this in before bed. The radio show was awesome. We had Alan Boyer http://www.leaders-perspective.com/a nationally know business coach along with Micheal Maher http://www.michaeljmaher.com/ along with myself and Tim Chin http://www.bizzbuzzlive.com/home and man did some great information come out about networking.

Here are the questions and abbreviated answers for you to put in your library of marketing weapons!

  1. WHAT IS NETWORKING?  networking is not netsit, netthink, it is netWORK and you have to work at it to be great! It is an attitude and the number 1 way to build a referral based business
  2. WHY DO IT? to build influence, become a gatekeeper, and grow your business
  3. WHERE DO YOU NETWORK? Everywhere! You need to fine tune your opportunity radar. Some great places are the chamber, BNI, and LeTip. If you can;t find a group, start your own! Some other places are the school, sporting events, homeowner association meetings.
  4. WHAT ARE THE BEST TECHNIQUES? you need a bullet proof elevator speech. you also need to look the part and most of all need to be a giver! develop the heart of a giver because givers gain! the biggest mistake people make is not following up after the event. send a handwritten note card, and call your contacts! (imagine that picking up the phone)
  5. WHY ARE FIRST IMPRESSIONS SO IMPORTANT? people will judge you within the first 15 seconds. make sure you look the part and have your usp dialed in!
  6. WHAT ARE THE MOST EFFECTIVE ON-LINE NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES? http://www.linkedin.com/and our very own activerain.com
  7. IS IT EXPENSIVE? It depends on your return. The Hawthorne Effect says what get measured gets done! Are you measuring your return vs the time.

This certainly is the entire interview, but just a snapshot!

All men want to succeed; some want to succeed some badly they're even willing to work for it!

Tim - great info - just came off a weekend retreat with 40 of the area's top leaders from all professions - guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow - I meant to do it today and got caught up blogging - thanks for a great reminder.

Thanks Tim,

Networking is should be a way of life not just something you do at events. If you don't talk about your business then who will?  Great tips and info.
