DO IT ON THE CHEAP

Specialty cleaners fill store shelves.  There is one for the counter top, another for appliances, another for carpet, another for the bathroom.  The list goes on and on.  The cleaners are usually full of chemicals which can cost more and harm the environment.  A double whammy!

Distilled white vinegar is still a great alternative and a way to clean on the cheap!  It has about 8% acidity which kills most germs, mold and bacteria.  It is also an excellent way to remove mineral deposits from coffee makers and glass.  Here are a few more uses to help you save some cash.

•·        Garbage Disposal can be cleaned with ½ cup hot white distilled vinegar + ½ cup baking soda.  Pour down drain and let sit for 5 minutes.  Run hot water to flush it.

•·        Carpets can be brightened by mixing a solution of 1 cup white distilled vinegar + 1 gallon water. Test a small inconspicuous area first.   I put a small amount of white distilled vinegar with a bit of fabreeze and water into my carpet shampooer.  Works like a charm.

•·        Remove water rings from wood with a solution of ¼ cup white distilled vinegar  + ¼ cup vegetable oil.  Rub with the grain.

Happy cleaning.
