When I was first invited to ActiveRain and told to start blogging, I thought, "What?" Two years later, I understand. It's not easy, but it is fun. Most of the time. And the people are great, especially if, as Claude says, they are watching and reading, and eventually hire you.

I'm just saying: We all have our internal motivations. My thoughts
are: Did I sell enough, Did I make enough money, and Does my wife still
like me? But I digress...
The conundrum continues...The facts are: If you don't have an online presence that dominates,
you either have a trust fund, or you were hit by a car and have annuity
payments. Either way, don't stop your online presence. In Fact, Ramp it up! People are watching.Hence the need for Active Rain. (or a movie named after you)
I have only one understanding to why business works in this environment.
People are watching.
I don't want to explain why ... but there are many excellent writers here on AR that can explain this phenomena.
So, here is my 2 cents:
You can easily begin an online presence that the search engines can find, BUT, you have to have a plan.
- AR and the myriad of information AR has, can get you started.
- Yes, it takes some patience.
- Don't rely on winning the lottery.
- Be as consistent in your marketing as you can.
- As mentioned earlier, people ARE watching, and people WILL pay attention if you give them something to watch!
