North San Diego always has a lot of events to keep everyone busy and this month is not exception. Get and have some fun with friends and family whether it is Oktoberfest or Halloween related, a fair, bicycling, art, or whatever floats your boat.

Haunted Hotel
The Haunted Hotel features new rooms from Hollywood´s favorite horror movies. Featuring terrifying special effects and illusions that are hauntingly real, the Haunted Hotel is where movies come to life. Closed Mon. & Tues. except for Oct. 24th & 25th. The Scream Zone
The Scream Zone is San Diego's largest and scariest haunted attraction. Open on select dates between Sept. 24 and Oct 31, it features a huge House of Horror with rooms filled with terrifying scenes and scares lurking at every turn, a one-of-a-kind Haunted Hayride through the haunted barns on the race track and The Chamber with the largest spinning tunnel in San Diego. Pumpkin Patch at Bates Nut Farm  
The premier site for pumpkins in San Diego County, visitors will enjoy selecting their pumpkin for their home harvest decorations. Open daily from 9-5pm, the farm offers a straw maze, tractor hayrides, and picnicking. Kids' Free Month at the Zoo!

San Diego International Orchid Fair  
Encinitas-The San Diego International Orchid Fair features hundreds of species and hybrids, exhibits and sales, lectures as well as official AOS judging and ribbon judging. Orchids from various countries such as China, Peru, Columbia, Philippines, Australia and Ecuador will be on display and for sale. More than 30 vendors selling orchids, orchid related products, artistic pottery, paintings and books will be available. Oct. 1: 1-5pm, Oct. 2: 9am-5pm and Oct. 3: 9am-4pm. www.sdbgarden.org

MCAS Miramar Air Show
The U.S. Navy´s Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron will be returning to San Diego Oct. 1, 2 and 3. As in years past, "The Blues" will have a supporting cast of performers guaranteed to thrill the whole family! Carlsbad Oktoberfest  
Come join the fun at the 26th annual Carlsbad Rotary Oktoberfest from 12 pm to 10 pm at Holiday Park in Carlsbad. The family event features German food, German music, dancing, and a host of children´s activities, including a pumpkin-decorating contest, facing painting, clowns, and much more. The pumpkin-decorating contest is for children 5-15 years old. Each winner in the four age group categories will receive $25. A German dinner will be served from 1 to 8 p.m. The dinner includes two German sausages, German potatoes, cabbage and a roll. Tickets are $10. www.rotaryoktoberfest.org

Taste of Del Mar and Art Stroll
The Taste and Art Stroll in Del Mar is an annual event held in the heart of the charming village of Del Mar. The event includes a free art stroll and a ticketed restaurant taste. Tease your palate with samples of delicious culinary creations offered by some of Del Mar and North County´s finest food purveyors and sip selections from California wineries and local breweries while strolling among artist´s tents featuring juried original artwork by over 70 talented, local and regional artists. The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce along with Cox Communications and Genentech will present Oceanside Harbor Days at the Oceanside Harbor. Tour de Poway Fun Bike Ride  
The Tour de Poway Fun Bike Ride is the premier San Diego North cycling event, drawing over 2,000 participants from throughout the southwest. The 104, 62 and 50 mile courses climb the famous Poway grade - 6.6% for 3 miles. The 18 mile course provides both a fun and enjoyable experience for the weekend cyclists. La Jolla Art & Wine Festival
Celebrate La Jolla's artist colony roots at the La Jolla Art & Wine Festival. This two-day event will be held in the Village of La Jolla on upper Girard Avenue the weekend of October 9 and 10, 2010 from 11am to 6pm, and will showcase juried artists. The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival will also feature local talent and flavors with live music and entertainment, gourmet food vendors, a garden featuring wine and beer from the finest local wineries and breweries, a silent auction, and a children's art center.
