What's The Most Appropriate Music, If Any, While Driving Buyers On Showings?

Car radioEver had a buyer play with the radio in the car? It can be very interesting what a client selects with respect to a music station. Let's just say that ever since I had a buyer picked a very unique radio station, in the interest of practicing politeness, I have always tried to have some sort of music that I think is pretty middle of the road that pleases most everyone.

So what would be the proper type of music playing in the background during a showing? I seem to have decided that some sort of instrumental jazz works best. It's pleasing to the ear and because there's no lyrics it makes having a conversation easy.

Then there's the issue of an iPod. What if you use an iPod to play uninterrupted music in the car? Would you be okay if a client picked up your iPod this very second and looked through it? This is something small that's been on my mind and I figured what better way to get some ideas nd suggestions than to ask my fellow REALTORS® on Active Rain. So let me know what beats i should drop on my next buyer while driving around.

no music....just talking....getting to know them....listening to their answers and their communication with each other.

Thank you Michael and Susan for the comments and I must say I agree with your opinions. Being in the car with them is the prefect time to ask questions and listen to what they have to say. How else can you get to know them?

Like Susan and Michael, I like the radio off if and when I have buyers in my vehicle (which is less and less frequent as many like to take their own vehicles, or meet for just one or two houses after they get out of work). If I am driving them in my vehicle, it's a great time to discuss the houses we're going to see, or what works or doesn't work in the houses we've just seen. If they ask for the music, it's no problem, and it's their choice as to station, but I get the volume control! <smile>

I  use my husband's CD as background music.  I tell them how my husband's CD came to be produced and how it is being played on jazz stations all over the world.  They generally like the music, no matter what age, and it sets the tone for us talking about their lives, hopes and dreams while we're in the car. :) Gail
