This was the sight I was met with, when returning to the office this afternoon.
A patron, of our local coffee shop, had carefully tied her pooch up to the park bench located directly outside of the shop.
Unknown to her, this was not one of the city's park benches, designed for strength and durability, rather it was a faux bench, purchased by the coffee shop and placed outside their storefront, for the sitting and sipping pleasure of their patrons.
Infortunately, said park bench was, as many things are today, made of a lightweight, formable plastic. The bench looked kinda real... was the right colour... had wood grain imbedded in the plastic. But where it counts...
Little sir doggie caught sight of something that made him want to chase... It could have been another dog, a squirrel, a little butterfly... who knows. Sir Doggie made the mad dash across the street, with plastic park bench in tow. He barely missed getting hit by traffic, and the bench when it became wedged at the curb across the street, quickly allowed his leash to slide off.
His owner went running down the street after little Sir Doggie (as I've since named him)... I hope she finds him.
