Common mistakes to avoid when purchasing a home:
1. Limiting your search to open houses, ads or the internet.
2. Choosing a Real Estate agent who is not committed to forming a business relationship with you.
3. Not following through on due diligence.
4. Not considering long term needs.
5. Not knowing total cost involved.
6. Making an offer on a home without being prequalified.
7. Not having a home inspection.
8. Not examining insurance issues.
Hi Herb. Great list, but I'm trying to figure out why it's posted to this group. Oh well, I'm sure I've done the same thing. Carry on.
Those are great points but here are a few others that I've come across:
1. Purchasing a house from a FSBO thinking that you will get a better deal if no commission is involved.
2. Purchasing a house through the LA thinking you will get a better deal because the listing agent will cust his commission.
3. Taking the advice of your neighbor, relative, friend at work instead of listening to a professional.
