The Big Gray Descends...

By
Industry Observer with ARFCO Media

It’s begun... The big gray descends. I doubt we’ll see any warm and sunny afternoons for awhile. Not a bad Fall, as they go. Even with an Indian Summer it won't last past Halloween.

I duck out for a quick break (hah, good pun). It’s a fun and crazy end of the month signing day here at The Talon Group on Eastlake today. The place is a buzz with activity and the clients seem lively and full of energy.

You think it’s the weather? They sure seem glad to be here.

All kidding aside, I've enjoyed listening to the conversation and laughter from several couples today sharing the joy of their dream come true.

We closed! We got our new home!

The wind’s really blowing again. It’s quite blustery and the rain is pelting against our windows in great surges. I think those leaves will be gone by days end.

I look out over Lake Union as a seaplane comes in for a landing. For a moment it seems to defy gravity. It's moving so slowly bucking a heavy headwind, its wings teetering back and forth. "Now there's a few people having some drama." It made me think of “Stand Still Like the Hummingbird”, Henry Miller 1962. A great book by the way.

I’m looking forward to those inside projects on my list, and I’m really glad I wore a sweater today.

I love your style. It tells the true story just the way it unfolds. The mundane interspersed with the sublime. Huge happenings mixed with the weather. That's the essence of life.

Rene': You have captured a true feeling of the chill and the subdued feeling that comes with the advent of Fall! I love the Fall, in spite of the fact it is a warning of something to come! Cold, wind, snow, blizzards etc....I love all of it!

Time to rest your eyes from the glare. Similar changes here in Utah with a lot of snow on "our hills". With the long grey we need to look at our Vitamin D inteke - our happy mood vitamin supplied mostly by sunlight.

Rene, we are expecting a Novel out of you soon. How about a Real Estate Spy Thriller. I could just visualize the events as they were unfolding. I was about to dig up my sweather, than realized I was in Marina Del Rey with 73 degree weather:))

Charles: Thank you... Ah, the mundane. Don't you think it's the juxtaposition that creates energy? I think that's why I love Henry so much. Very private personal trivia mixed with grand sweeping big ideas and ideals.

Thanks Paula: I love muted tones. Fall is so special. The end, yet the beginning.

Larry: I love Utah and haven't spent much time there. You're right, I was thinking this morning, "time to go get some vitamin C and D.... Thanks.

Endre: That's why I started blogging to be honest. I went through a couple of years of writers block (as they call it) working on a couple of books still unfinished. I thought blogging would be a good exercise. Like music, forget the Symphony for awhile, just right a short little piece. Get the muscle back in shape. I have to confess to laughing (almost out loud) when I've been in Southern California and I see people walking around with turtleneck sweaters and it's 73 degrees. T-Shirt weather where I come from. Yet, I spent time in the East Bay while I was in Grad School at the CCM at Mills. My blood thinned and when I moved back to the Northwest I was cold for almost a year!

Courtney: Me too... love those inky blue grey's, teal and green, browns and black. I must of been in England in a former life. Love the cozy feeling of being outside in the elements, then home and warm with a fire, hot tea, making music, reading a good book, something smells wonderful in the kitchen.

Rene...

We had some hard rain this morning that knocked a lot of the leaves down. It was followed by a warm front ... It's actually hot in the house right now!

Richard: We'll probably get a little of that. Usually in November we get what we call, "The Pineapple Express"... warm and wet weather patterns coming in from the South Pacific.
