N.O.W. Comes to the Defense of Christine O'Donnell

By
Real Estate Agent with Retired

Earlier this week, the GAWKER published a story about an alledged Halloween on night stand between Christine O'Donnell, republican senate candidate in Delaware, and an unidentified man. The story has since been discredited and the Gawker admitted paying the author for it.

However, the big story is that the National Organization for Women has actually come out in defense of Ms. O'Donnell. In a released statement N.O.W. stated: "NOW repudiates Gawker's decision to run this piece. It operates as public sexual harassment. And like all sexual harassment, it targets not only O'Donnell but all women contemplating stepping into the public sphere.

I would just like to say thank you to N.O.W. for quickly responding to this. It has often been late, or even silent, to often in situations where non-liberal women have been the subjects of such attacks.

Story can be found here.

Mike,

That's great. Or, is it?

NOW just got the story back in the news.

Now came in after the pay off was made public.

It's win-win for NOW they look good with out being good and they know every time the story is repeated some people will believe it.

NOW the National Organization for Women is a misnomer!  National Organization for Ultra Libberal Women would be more accurate.

Mike, just like most great movements in America, the train get high-jacked on the way to reaching the original destination.  Palin could have taken her negative political background and actually been a positive force.  Instead she took the Tea Party on a route that has divided and conquered the conservative train. This could have been an incredible election for conservatives, instead this self serving money grabber has put herself first.  By the way Palin is interesting just like Rush and Beck but not to be taken seriously as leaders of our country.  Besides, how can someone quit as Governor and expect anyone to trust her?

All three members of NOW finally said something... barely.  I know it doesn't represent me.

Hi Mike, Thanks for putting the story up, I would not have paid any attention to it if not for you posting as I have found NOW to be a big problem for women for quite a while. I have got to however point out one thing (there are many things that I could address, but as a woman who really got what Palin did, I just HAVE to address this one part) to the commenter above me, #2, I sincerely hope you are OK with this...

Tony, You need take pause, Palin was being gone after by no less than 14 different claims. That is 14 different legal proceedings, if you have ever been a party to one, frivolous or not, it is an expensive, labor intensive and a draining process. She was the Governor of a state that she dearly loves. The people who worked as her aids and along side her for the state of Alaska were not getting any work done for the state of Alaska, they were spending all of their time fighting all of these claims (that were dropped as soon as she left office, hummmmm) Her honorable view of the situation was very simple and correct minded, leave the position and allow for another who can get the job done to be in office, and quite waisting all of the citizens time and money defending her against a bunch of frivolous attacks.

She did what was right for the state of Alaska and for its citizens.

Another attack on Palin who's not even running for office.  This and the attack on Christine O'Donnell and other conservative women running for office expose the hypocrisy of the left and the Dems who claim to represent women's rights.  As Bill said above, only if a woman were liberal...

I'm still waiting on NOW to say anything about Joy Behar calling Angle the 'b' word... twice.  In many ways, I'm happy to see conservative women running for office regardless of the attacks that they encounter, because the left are now exposed for their misogynistic views.

Bill - I won't presume to judge their motive, however, I agree, N.O.W. has not demonstrate inclusiveness for those of differing political and social persuasions.

Tony - I am sorry that you felt that you had to hijack this post to publish a diatribe against someone who has nothing to do with this. BTW - the Tea Party os primarily a movement of fiscal responsibility, not necessarily republican or conservative.

Yolanda - when did the 3rd person join?

Elizabeth - N.O.W. has been a bit late to the party, if they showed up at all for much of the mudsling and demeaning attacks on non-liberal women. Guess we should recognize when they do get involved.

Yolanda - that's woman on woman, which, now that I think of it, shouldn't make any differance. Just demonstrates that Behar is an ideologically intolerant bi person.

Someone has obviously made a mistake.  NOW is only supposed to support liberal women.  Maybe they thought they could get away with it because she was so far back in the polls... but if she surges, NOW might have to retract their support.

Claude - not sure if this is a case of affirmation, but, it is good to see N.O.W. stand up for someone who's principals do not match

Lane - oh you cynic!

The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

NOW is much like the AMA, representative of FEW members but, hats off to them for stepping up and defending Ms O'Donnell.  In my PollyAnna world, I'd like to think that this is a step in the right direction for them but, my gut is asking what this remarkable response is doing for THEM!!

Mike

I just wish they wouldn't wait until the act is so blatant.. There are plenty of other reasons they should have defended her by now.
