When my gene pool gathers, it is something akin to a demonstration of spontaneous combustion. I guess it is bound to happen when the genealogy is a bazaar mixture of statesmen, presidents, a bank robber and a pirate or two.
Last evening, on Halloween Eve, my eldest grandson, Jason, and his longtime girlfriend. Jessica "Hollywood", decided to get married at Grand Island Mansion, where presidents Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Ronald Regan have dared to tread.
The mansion was dressed out as a gothic haunted mansion for the occasion. But somehow, I don't think it had ever seen anything the likes of this family.
I know we bloggers often differ from actual network news media, by expressing commentary once in awhile, rather than just reporting the news; but what surprised me was finding not a single balloon in sight. After all, my daughter Valerie, the mother of Jason Ewing, the groom, is heavily involved in the inflatables industry, via her business, "The Balloon Butler" in the Greater Sacramento area. But, there were other tidbits of décor that readily made up for the inflatable absence.
One of the great things I enjoy about photo blogs, is when you are often left speechless, your pictures can sometimes pick up the story. After last evening, I have learned there are some things words can't describe. And there are other things there aren't enough words to explain!
I will tell you that the first picture in the slideshow is of the mansion at dusk. The 3rd picture encompasses the parents of the groom - Father Chris Ewing (Sacramento attorney), his wife Tammy, My daughter Valerie (mother of the groom), and her husband Paul Reese (Group Health Insurance Guy).
There are other interesting event attendees (Nuns, Pirates, Cat Woman, Bat Girl, etc.). The blonde lady in the leopard outfit is Jason's favorite Great Aunt Patty (on Jason's father's side). The wedding party dressed formally for the ceremony, but quickly changed into alternative characters for the reception. Yes, that's the bride in the Cave Gal outfit throwing her bouquetJ
The last photo in the slide show is of myself, three daughters, and a pirate or two. Thank goodness this wedding took place in California, I don't expect citizens from too many other areas of this great land will even remotely understand.
