In The Observer this week they published a Wish List of ways to help our community. I'm going to cover each of the nonprofit organizations mentioned on the list. Maybe one of the groups will make a connection with readers that would like to help out.
THE GLORI FOUNDATION
Mission Statement
Our goal is to provide positive experiences, exposure and opportunity that will help today's youth and individuals with special needs, to excel in school, engage in their communities, and develop leadership skills through our educational, character building and leadership programs.
Mentoring, tutoring & a scholarship program are also offered. And in partnership with Scholar Athletes of Texas, a High School Late Night Basketball competition is offered.
The Glori Foundation was named after Dr. Gloria M. Waite, an advocate for education who passed away July 29, 2000 from breast cancer complications. Recently, the foundation leased office space and they can use donations of office furniture like a desk, chair, lamp, phone, printer, copier, computer, etc.
