Motivational Power Quote

You Have To Know When To Change Course

"No matter how far you have on a wrong road,

turn back."

Turkish Proverb

As I see it. . . . . . . .

You have to know when to change course

There will be times that we have committed ourselves to follow a course of action and have invested our time, energy and resources to follow that path. After we have expended a massive effort to follow that path, we find ourselves headed in the wrong direction.

The question becomes what do we do?

When you have determined that you are on the wrong path and it's impossible to achieve your objectives you have to change your course.

Unless you adjust your course you will continue to invest your resources to continue to go in the wrong direction. You will see yourself moving farther and farther away from your goals.

You have to be very careful about going down the wrong path because not only will you be wasting your resources it will also be effecting your emotions. The farther you go down the wrong path the more emotionally attached to the journey even with the knowledge that you're moving in the wrong direction.

You will have to dig deep within yourself and relay on making the right decision and to have the courage to adjust your course and let go of the past. Other wise you will expend your resources and emotional capital on a dead end journey.

Adjusting your course is not giving up on your goals. What you're doing is adjusting your strategies to achieve your goals.

There is more then one way to reach your goals. Adjusting your course is creating a plan B and effectively implementing that plan to achieve your original target by moving in a new direction.

You have to know when to change course and adjust. When that time has come, take bold action and change your course. Your adjustments will get you back onto the right path with renewed energy and move you in the direction of your goals.

Hi Lou, so often we hear, "stay the course", "focus on the goal" etc... this is such good advice. It's OK to re-evaluate and turn back when necessary. Colonel Custer comes to mind :-)

Have a terrific Thanksgiving Day, Lou!

Lou - Great quote! I think coming to the realization that you're on the wrong road is the hardest part, but there is always time to change course when you figure it out, it's never to late.
