Hows Your Blog Doing?

By

Just recently I noticed that google seems to be giving a lot of weight to blogs than they used to.  Specifically you may notice that you are ranking a lot higher for your tags than you ever did before.  Prior to this month I could never find my tags in the searches.

This month I find many of them on page 2 of the searches.  Are you seeing the same?  If so, are they pages you can convert from?

Not many of us really think about the way we tag our blogs and I have that issue myself.  I find myself with my tag pages getting a lot of hits, but the info on there not being good info to convert from.

If you have noticed this change what are you doing to categorize better within your tags?  I hate to redo my tags because you can loose some current "juice" you have if you do not do it correctly.

I did notice this on a search term and was surpised when I saw who came up on top... then I went to AR to see their tags and it became very clear!  I have some tag work to do.  It certainly is worth the time. ...

Google and Bing are giving a lot more weight to Blogs and Social Media.

Tags!  Thanks for the reminder, to include as many relevant tags as possible.

I have never been instructed about tags, I'm still in the dark on this subject.

Blogs always get weight if they have fresh and original content. I don't even bother with tags, I just write for my highest ranking site.

That is what works for me.

Rob, it seems like a learn something new every time I read another blog post.  I am at the point where I know I need to develop a tagging strategy and hope to have one in place within the next 30 days, along with a new WordPress blog.

Rob, tags are something that people really do not focus much on.  Until recently I do not really think it made too much of a difference with the search results.

Paul, you may want to try working with your tags.  If you have blog posts ranking well I guarantee you your tags with rank even better.

You have definitely given me something to look at today, I am not sure if my tags are suddenly doing better.  But I will be sure by the end of the day.

So, I did spend time looking deeper at analytics, content results and low & behold found more tag results in the last 30 days than before.  Very interesting.

Steve,
Good to hear.  The only problem is to optimize your blog to work better with your tags would be a huge project.
