My Top 10 Favorite Movies: Robin WilliamsRobin Williams

Seems I find myself channel surfing quite a lot while I'm watching tv.  It's just too hard to sit and watch commercials.  I get fidgety and I start surfing.  Tonight I happened to catch the tail-end of Mrs. Doubtfire.  I classic Robin Williams "feel good" movie.

On Sunday, I played tribute to my favorite Tom Hanks movies.  Today Robin Williams gets the spotlight.  Of course, Robin Williams is another multi-faceted and talented actor.  Mostly, he's known for his comedies, however he's been quite successful in serious roles and sometimes in some creepy ones (One Hour Photo comes to mind).

My Top 10 Favorite Movies: Robin Williams

  1. What Dreams May Come
  2. Patch Adams
  3. Good Will Hunting
  4. The Birdcage
  5. Good Morning Vietnam
  6. Mrs. Doubtfire
  7. Jumanji
  8. Dead Poets Society
  9. Happy Feet (voice)
  10. Insomnia

Donna, What Dreams May Come more from the amazing things they did with the film more so than anything else.  We've watched Jumanji over and over.

HI Donna - Good Morning Vietnam is probably my top favorite from your list. I can still hear him saying that phrase - it just rings in my head when I see the movie title.

Hey you guys! Another amazing Actor!! It's good to know I'm not the only one that LOVES What Dreams May Come. My husband and I saw it in the theater and just held hands and didn't move until the very last credit rolled. We have never done that before. When I need a good soul-mate cry I watch it. We are also Netflixing all the old Mork and Mindy episodes and man he was just as funny back then!

My other favorites are definitely the Birdcage, Hook, Good Morning Vietnam and I loved him as the Frog Prince in Faerie Tale Theater.

Hello Tony~ I don't think I've seen Awakenings, so it didn't make it on my list.  However, I did just watch the preview for it online and it looks AMAZING.  Guess I'm going to have to find it to rent!  Thanks for sharing!

Good morning Praful~ I guess that demonstrates that it's a good family movie!

Hi Tammy L.~ I checked and Awakenings and Patch Adams are 2 different movies.  Both based on a true story.  Your daughter knows how to pick some great movies too!  As for A.I. I didn't see that one either.  The character in Insomnia was creepy too.  He is truly talented!

Hi Jacque and Larry~ Your comments further show that Robin Williams really brings his characters to life, so much so that you find similar people in your life.  That's how a good actor connects with his audience.  Thanks for stopping by today!

Morning Joni~  Good idea.  I love couch cuddling with the hubby and a good movie!  Do you make popcorn too?

Hello J.A.~ The movie you are describing is the one at the top of my list.  What Dreams May Come.

Hi again Tammy L.~ No I haven't read the book, guess I'll have to add that to my reading list!

Good morning Debbie~ I thought the movie/actor theme would be fun and it would engage a lot of people!  I haven't seen Dead Again, but I just watched a trailer for it online and it looks like the type of movie that I would like.  Guess we'll have to get Netflix so I can rent all these "old" movies!

Hello Roger~  Good choice~Good Will Hunting is a great movie.  Matt Damon was great in that movie also!

Hi Krista~ Robin Williams is a great actor.  He has so much range.  He can make the audience, laugh, cry AND get angry!

Morning Bliz~ In both movies, the imagination just runs wild!

Hi Judy~ That's one of my husband's favorites too!

Hello Tammy E.~ Good to see you! That movie really is all about soul-mates.  It's a wonderful story (some sad and scary scenes, but overall wonderful).

Howdy Mimi~ I love the "music" from the game, it just draws you in!

Good Will Hunting is one of my all-time favorites - Williams is an immense talent and from what I have read has an extremely introverted personality when not on screen, which blows my mind.  Here is one of my favorite exchanges from the movie;

Sean: Do you have a soul mate?
Will: Define that.
Sean: Someone you can relate to, someone who opens things up for you.
Will: Sure, I got plenty.
Sean: Well, name them.
Will: Shakespeare, Nietzsche, Frost, O'Conner...
Sean: Well that's great. They're all dead.
Will: Not to me, they're not.
Sean: You can't have a lot of dialogue with them.
Will: Not without a heater and some serious smelling salts.

Hi Kathy~ Oh, I'm not sure I've seen the Fisher King.  There are few I didn't mention, mostly because I haven't seen them personally.

Please go over and "visit" Tom Hanks.  He didn't get nearly as many comments as Robin.  He's feeling a bit lonely!  :-)
